Its more like the SANFL losing it - they own the clubs licence, maybe then the blame should be directed at the license holder for allowing their investment to achieve that result. How many people would hold a share portfolio and just watch year after year as it loses money without taking any action to correct it? In the SANFL's case they just continue throwing money at it hoping it will solve the problem without actually addressing the issue of the stadium deal and lack of a proper pokies facility and so on.
If I owned the licence I'd have done the business-like thing and get a new sub-licensee that could draw more customers some time ago.. ;)

Stoopid argument and even stoopider conclusion..

You cant have two teams "for all South Australians"....
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

And here we go again, and its not like it hasnt been written on here 10-20-30 times before. Port have given a dividend tot he SANFL clubs EVERY year for the past ten years. There has only been I believe TWO times ever that they did not give back a dividend and this was in the 90s. They pay a fixed amount, every year, regardless of profit or loss, just like the Crows do. It has been this way for nearly a decade and is an amount the SANFL has set for the clubs. They paid $355k this year, $344k last year.

Surely its not too difficult to expect regulars on this board to remember this before they go on yet another 'Port dont return a dividend' diatribe.

YAWN!!!! Hey Schultzy!!!!

$355K divided by 9 SANFL Clubs = approx $39.5K per club per year as I have stated 100 times.

Obviously this massive yearly PROP-UP is the life blood of all SANFL clubs

Incidentally how much was it the top SANFL clubs declined in prize money via the national championships this year as it wasnt sufficient enough ???? (hint for you its just over $39.5K)

I suppose this arguing could go on for a very long time. Let's just leave it & let good old actions speak louder than words. Because they will.

Good idea, but me thinks there are too many 35+ year olds who were tormented by the Port Maggies over the years and now that the Port's are struggling they are jumping all over them. Its the same on nearly every Port thread on here. The same peanuts with the same arguments.

If Port had the level of support they claimed to, then we would probably leave you lot alone.

When Freo were getting crap crowds they marketed the club effectively and are reaping the rewards. Port's response is to give up and cover up a few bays.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Fair call for many I suspect .. Also though Centurion's call is reasonable, let the actions not promises (or snipers) tell the story .. Especially once you blokes get the better deal Adelaide Oval offers, hopefully then everyone is happy and noone has anything to whinge about (although the chances of the latter are next to impossible)

I'd have supported both - I even support the Power to some extent against all but the Crows because they are at least a team for some South Australians. ;)
Since at the time the second licence was being offered there was a fair waiting list for Crows membership, I may even have signed up for membership of the second SA team had it been another composite.

It a shame these blokes couldnt raise money for a worthy charity.... instead of a claub that going to continue to fail.

How dumb can a club be that it cant even market itself as an alternative to the crows....i.e. traditional football club like Fremantle has.... instead it market that worthless creed.... they exist to lose money....

How many times are you going to contradict yourself in one posting? 8-}

What part of ONE CLUB don't you understand?

And the Creed is one of the major things that defines us as a Traditional Club.
