Central have long demonstrated that they have learned from the Port Adelaide of old, and from the Brisbane Lions under Leigh Matthews.
They work out the way the Umpires are responding and take every opportunity to push the limits and bruise and wear down the opposition.
I don't blame them because that is the way the "game" is played, and they won fair and square in the terms that apply.

Norwood have needed bruisers too to be successful in the past.

I don't like it, which was why I chose to play a less brutal sport myself.
I'd enjoy Aussie rules more without the focus on "taking out" the opposition.
What a load of chosen poppycock. If We are such brutal thugs, how come We are nearly the least reported side? Sure Wingnut cleaned him up, who wouldn't have? He didn't want to break his jaw, that was accidental. Sorry We won the fights too.
Read it again - they do it very well - as did Port Adelaide in the past and the Brisbane Lions!
And I agree with Booney's comment too.

Yeah AFL a soft boring, running, pretty game for the TV audiences in other words a bastardised version of the real footy which was played all around this country in the 60's,70's,80's and part of the 90's everything the AFL gets involved with turns to shit.
SANFL 2000 - 2011 Central District 12 consecutive Grand Final appearances and 9 Premierships.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFF.

Hit em hard let them get up and hit em again.

Pure and simple Phillips was completely oblivious to the fact that there was any traffic near him at all.

Sadly, the reaction to another GF win by Centrals is, on here, a reflection of the SA Football community's ho-hum reaction to another Dogs win. Dont get me wrong, their achievements are unsurpassed and we must all dip our lids to them.

But aren't we all just sick and tired of it?

What was pompous about that?

Nup, and I know I'll get howled down for this and the Glenelg jibes will start, I'm not sick of Centrals winning I'm sick of my lot not rising to the challenege and doing soemthing about it.

Good luck to Centrals for setting the standard but seriously the rest of us just have to rise to the challenge. We (Glenelg) have finished two spots below where we should've for the last two years and for that we only have ourselves to blame.

So in a nutshell Centrals winning isn't boring and I'm not sick of that - but I am sick of the rest of us (and my lot in particular) not rising to the standard set by Centrals.

And FWIW shit happens in finals, build a bridge and get over it. Nothing wrong with anything I saw yesterday.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I think us supporters are sick and tired of it but for the other 8 clubs, it's all too hard to try and catch up so they just accept that they'll play second fiddle every year rather than try and match or surpass The Dogs.

I'd throw in JAS as well as one of the few educated Norwood supporters as well.

Very interesting how many so-called Norwood supporters have either only joined SAFooty this year or have very few posts (under 500). These are very easy to pick - the only things they can say about Centrals are childish socio-economic comments.

I have a so-called Norwood supporter friend (never been to a game, didn't even go yesterday) who has spent half of last night posting derogatory socio-economic crap about Centrals on my Facebook, then chucked a tanty when I deleted her from my Facebook.

It's sad that most Norwood supporters have to resort to the lowest of the low name calling to make themselves feel better.

Updated signature says it all!!!

Always knew that Norwood would die in the arse...

Dogs kicking all those goals in the 3rd quarter after Norwood had Centrals on the ropes at 1/2 time and Norwood kicking 2.5 in the last is what won it for Centrals/lost it for Norwood.

I'm off to the family day.

Did any Dogs fans who went to the after-party find the security a bit oppressive??? Not the ones in black but the ones in blue??? About a dozen cars, a paddy wagon or three, atleast four ponies and atleast one sniffer dog (I was told there was three there).

I didn't find it to be overly oppressive. They were strong in numbers but they weren't hassling anyone (unless they were actually causing trouble). Nothing compared to what I've seen in Melbourne (where they patrol in massive packs)

It will show the clubs depth and if they have carried them along the way, doubt it though. I heard an interview with one of the Gowans yesterday and he mentioned that him and his brother lost 8 grand finals in a row before they won with the dogs, said they have not played a season in senior football where they have not played in a grand final, I find that an amazing stat. Did they play in all of the last 11 Grand Finals?

I agree. It applies to all the teams Centrals have dominated
Centrals are winning because that play to the rules, and to the limits of the rules. Other teams simply have to get as professional and do the same.

A few have taken exception to my comments today about how Aussie rues games are won, and my statement that that is why I chose not to play the sport myself.
I was not saying anything else but that one had to embrace it or get out, and I chose, personally, to get out before I got crippled as I had too much to lose

Callinan killed us, got the only holding the ball decision of the day and deserved the Oatey. But if anyone tells me that Central weren't told to take out Flipper then I will call you a liar!!! Simply put Flipper stays on,we win.

My only regret is Norwood don't have a thug in our team to reciprocate.

Sour Grapes? Of course.
Do I care? Of course not.
I watched my team throw away a Premiership yesterday.

The way Phillips was fumbling I was happy for him to stay out there.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.
