Well we were due, Eagles got them all in the first half. You want a questionable decision, take a look at a free Salter got in front of goal for just falling over.

Grocke. He missed it anyway.

what the, norwood played an 8/9 man back line flood all day. it made for absolute crap football.

I understand why they do it because if they play good honest football they cant win so Bassett plays this crap style against teams not use to it as it is their best hope of winning. Absolute boring to watch.

Yes. Let's all be clubs that only have the nads to get up for one crack and then fall away again? Which club(s)? Everyone except for us over the last ten years.

Utter rubbish IMO...I enjoyed it. It was good finals footy. Some call it flooding, others call it working back and running hard when your opponents have the ball. There was only one team out there today that tried to play attacking footy after half time. If you're opponents can't move the ball forward quickly enough to hit free players inside 50 then you're doing something right.

Look forward to next week as I really think Norwood play the game that the Dogs least like

Agree with all that Dutchy.
Well done to the Legs, over the course of the season they have been just fractionally had the wood* on us.
Such a mixture of feelings at the moment. Proud of how we committed ourselves last week and this with the injuries we sustained. But to lose from that position at half time really was ordinary.
Thought Greiger, Thompson and Guifredra were good, as was McKenzie and Cica. Polec early. Rayner was very good on debut, but probably got a bit overrun against some more experienced players later on.
Norwood just had too much pace and better ball use in the last quarter.
The umpiring was very ordinary. We certainly got a run in the first half, and then Norwood were virtually gifted four shots in front of goal in the third quarter. The Thompson spoil and Gallagher after-disposal were jokes, as was the holding-the-ball on the members wing (Allmond or Polec?) in the last two minutes.

The game it actually reminds me of more than any is the 1996 prelim.

Dawe pretty huge in second half too

Win is dedicated to the Eagle tool in Bay 114 who wouldn't sit down all day

Reckon another key moment was just before half time when Eagles had ball in 'Tony Hall/Graham Campbell impossible pocket' and instead of going long kicked the ball backwards and way over to the other side

Thanks AM, feeling the love. :D Your turn will come.

I really felt for the Eagles supporter slumped motionless near me at the end of the game. Were I not worried it would have been misinterpreted I would have said sorry and told him his team were just as deserving winners.

To the group of Eagles fans who spat and called me a faggot at three quarter time I can only say 'get it right effin up you'. I mean, if a guy can't blow a few lovely kisses at opposition supporters then what's the world coming to? :D

A merde game that we just shaded, we'll need to be 100% better next week. Can't wait.

Bomber Thompson got it right last year when he said that sometimes footy sucks. Had to really feel for the Eagles fans with that game, but extraordinary to watch such defensive tactics in the second half when they had every reason to keep attacking.

Will be a very interesting contest between two teams that have matched up well a number of times now.

I think that the game changed when Grocke went off injured in the 3rd term. It affected the eagles because then they had noone to kick to at CHF. A major reason why the eagles went defensive imo.

That goal by Phillips in the 3rd term in the Tony Hall pocket would have to go down as one of the best goals I've ever seen and I knew Norwood wouldn't lose from there.

There's some semblance of truth to this comment, in that we are forced to play the way we do out of necessity .. However surely of all people Port fans (or all fans for that matter) can understand that it's a case of result first, attractiveness a distant second.

There is always an opposition team that contributes to the game also .. We don't decide for them to look at maintaining possession at all cost and avoid kicking to a contest, that is their direction that we have no say over.

It could be argued that talent-wise the Legs squad was stronger last year, yet look where that flimsy, attacking game plan got us.

Im surprised it's somehow not classified as "good honest football"

Congratulations to Norwood. They never gave up. Only led when it mattered most.
In view of our injuries and hard road from 5th Norwood, I bet, have done us an enormous favour.
As disappointing as it was to lose from the position we were in after such a great 1st Half, I think, now that our season is over,
it is better that we lost a Preliminary final than to be destroyed by Centrals in a Grand Final. I fear it might be Norwood's turn to feel the pain. For the sake of the SANFL though I hope not.

No 25 - Rimmington?

2 goals in the second quarter saw his having some wild celebrations - if I know Bass he wouldn't have been impressed by that and might have pointed that behaviour out to the players at his half time address.

I still dont know how we pinched that game. Been a long while since we have pinched a game. Reminds me of our conversation at quarter time CP - except we were both wrong ;)

Well done to the Eagles today, you played terrific footy for much of the day. Cheers to am bays and others from other clubs who have offered your best wishes.

I'm not sure if this will be a slow week or a long one, but I'm sure the weekend will be a late one whatever the outcome!

If I want entertainment I'll go to a cinema...it's footy...as with any sport I don't care what style they use as long as it works...can be the most boring game ever played for all I care...as long as we win that is all that matters.

I must say that the eagles should be congratulated on their finals campaign. Almost pulled off a remarkable victory against the odds with their injury interrupted week and day.

I was impressed with Bryce Campbell today
Heez getting fitter and better
If today was a mag medal day I would vote
3 GALLAGHER
2 PUOPOLO
1 POLEK or CAMPBELL

POLEK was clearly the best player in the first half
