Nobody is suggesting Godden is better than Laird.

Just that Godden is clearly better than Mickan.

Mark Mickan is a top class coach. Glenelg would be mad to get rid of him.

I think they need to take a long look at which players keep letting them down under pressure and get rid of them instead.

Rubbers and the board are meeting Monday Night to discuss which way forward and that will include from the board their expectations and Mark's acceptance of their expectations and vica versa.

Personally I think he is dead man walking

Yet their H2H record has Mickan leading?

Id judge a coach after at least 2 years, not while still on a honeymoon when he hasnt faced all the challenges the role has to offer..

Godden has done a fantastic job in regards to the changes that are made on a weekly basis due to afl players coming back and forth. id suggest most other clubs would struggle with that uncertainty and I think Godden deserves a lot of credit for what he has done. He did take our reserves from an elimination final to premiers, so he does have some ability.

So if Roy Laird went and coached Woodville or Glenelg, how many think that they would then perform better than they have in this current series?

this is all fascinating seeing training starts in november & guess who called the decision on when training starts ?.....fwiw i agree with an earlier post that mickan is a D.M.W. .............hypothetically if terminating his contract happens, is it the right thing to do morally ?...is there anyone better out there ? (leigh tudor is a name i've heard)....the points i keep thinking about is i remember how we were travelling BEFORE mickan arrived & surely just like a horse trainer you can get the horse fit, ready & prepared as best you can but it is still up to the horse/players to perform at the required level when under pressure & this is what has let him down, players performances
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Let me guess he coached against Mickan for the U11 flag.

Roy Laird coached Central to the 2002 reserves premiership and was appointed league coach in 2003.

I think youll agree has had a fair record since.

So Godden knows what it takes to win a flag(40 points down at half time in the GF werent they ???) and currently has a better winning % in finals than Mickan by 500%.

The case against Mickan keeps adding up.

I doubt it soj. Roy simply wouldnt be as passionate about it as he is at Centrals.

I couldnt see him ever coaching against CDFC IMHO.

So after that article it appears the Board will be coaching the club next year. May not be all that comfortable for Mickan in 2011?

Could be worse, we could have the North board and their KPIs telling him how to coach... ;)

Sorry AM - the KPI's were a Healy thing and had we let the Board coach the game plan would have been better and we would have fared better than under Healy!
