It was after the final siren so technically not during the match so no case to answer. 8)

So technically it was assault. :D

Nope, play fighting. ;)

What happened in the rooms after the game between Chris Gowans and a Centrals player who I think was Luke Habel?

Clearly there were harsh words and finger pointing (mainly from Gowans) which were visible on the ABC post match coverage.

I was reading Gowser's lips and he told him not to forget his shout when they got into the clubrooms.
I think the exact words were "when we get in there, I want that F8cking beer you owe me from last week."

Nothing to worry about, those boys are always arguing with someone.

A bit of mentoring. Luke's been picked up a couple of times on "burning" the ball, or rushing his disposal, including publicly by Roy. The players provide feedback to each other, sometimes quite vigorously. If it was Chris to James, it would have ended up in a wrestle. The good thing is none take it personally, but all take it on board.

There's a beautiful defence there for messrs Rowe and Gowans if they get the call up to the tribunal .. "Just some friendly advice, nothing in it" :D

Correct CP...

SANFL press release wrote:
TRIBUNAL REPORTS

Central – Chris Gowans – Striking

Norwood – Sam Rowe – Striking

Sturt – Jace Bode – Striking

Eagles – Adam Grocke – Forceful front-on contact

These reports will be heard by the Tribunal tomorrow night. Times to be finalised.

Probably not - Rowe threw connecting punches, Gowans used his elbows.
Looks like they might be in a battle to avoid matches.

Just watchig the replay of the game now...

Is it possible that Chris Gowans has been cited for a strike on young Norwood player Alex Georgiou at the 19 minute mark of the last term?

Both players should get off because you cant be reported after the siren. Just like Jonathon Brown for Brisbane got off a few years ago

You can get reported by an umpire within the vicinity of the venue, actually. About 500 metres? I'll find the rule.

Jonathon Browns defense was that the incident happened after the siren had sounded and therefore wasnt during the game. He got off.

And on the same day...

19. Reporting Players and Officials
19.1 Obligation to Report

19.1.1 To Controlling Body

An Umpire shall report to the Controlling Body any Player
or Official who commits or engages in conduct which may
constitute a Reportable Offence:
(a) during a Match; or
(b) on the day of the Match and within the immediate
proximity of the Arena where the Match is conducted.

19.1.2 Interpretation — “Within the Immediate Proximity of the Arena”Without limiting their ordinary meaning, the words “within the
immediate proximity of the Arena” shall include any area within
500 metres of the Arena where the Match is conducted.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yes, same day is what I was getting at; not even just the venue itself.

I did a bit of looking and found he got off because the charge was "rough play" - the fact that the word "play" was used when there was no play. Sounds like something a high priced lawyer would do.

Yes, well, I suppose since then "play" isn't used, rather "conduct". ;)
