Read the whole thread and you would have found this...

Dutchy wrote:OK no doubt it sounds like this matter will be taken seriously at a high level so can we please keep further comments on the game itself at least until formal comment from clubs is released.

Any future comments regarding the off field incident will be deleted, so dont waste your time.

yea id like him to be in my backline right now. how old is he? looks like a ready made player

7.18...that has to be the worse kicking performance we have done in a while...game was scrappy on the radio and sounded boring...eags converted their chances when they got them but we got plenty of the footy...too many skill errors...

crappy boring season continues

Big Phil wrote:Was an interesting game, the Eagles certainly played the better football, particularly over 4 quarters...

The highlight for me though was when I was leaving the ground after the game, I had someone very recognisable come up to me and ask me a question...

"Excuse me sir, do you have a motor vehicle" was asked of me...

It was legend Eagles supporter Ernie who of course has been a part of the Woodville Oval furniture for a very long time...

He asked me whether I could take him to the Woodville Train station as he missed his bus and only had 15 minutes before the train arrived, ensuring he'd get home to Glenelg before dark.

I felt obliged to give the man a lift and was so glad I did. We introduced ourselves to each other and he was chuffed when I told him I knew who he was. We talked about the Eagles win and he asked me who I followed.

When I told him Central, he was quick to tell me about the 2006 GF but humbly said 2004 was good for my team. He is a very switched man at 78 years old and was very very grateful and apreciative of me giving him a lift.

Might sound a little bit silly I know, but that was the highlight of my day, meeting the great man and I was just pleased I could assist in making sure he got to the station safely, but I felt like it was my good deed for the day.

Back to the game, I was very impressed with ZPatrick Guffrieda today, is very hard at it and played well for the victors.

Good on you Phil :D

OMG !!!........if this incident involved Central supporters you guys would keep this going until next month, but because this shows that all clubs have their ferrel supporters ( yes even the high and mighty Sturt and Eagles ) you delete the truth....WHAT A JOKE :x :x

Sturt were diabolical and I was utterly embarrassed by what was yet another example of completely inept and pathetic football. I do not enjoy sitting there watching my team cough up 2 points to a team that in my opinion were at best pretty average, but on the whole generally rubbish for most of the match. I can only presume that what I saw from Torrens today was the type of football that saw them lose the grannie by 20 goals a few years back. In my opinion and its just mine, but I thought Torrens lacked urgency and lacked any real desire to win, what they did have was a game plan they could execute when unencumbered and they did show steel to ignore Sturt's complete control of the game at times and just suck it up and hit back with a couple of goals when the time came. Now if that sounds really harsh on Torrens, then just think about where that leaves Sturt as the hopeless, p*** poor side that went down by 26 points?

Sturt were diabolical. They once again showed me that the crappy, stupid decision making and poor skills that has plagued most of their games this year has not left them like we (as supporters) had hoped after a few positive performances. Sturt once again threw away possession at times when they weren't really under that much pressure. They were shocking with regards to shooting for goal, 7.18 pretty much says it, but geez the misses were just unbelievable. No one minds missing shots under pressure or on tight angles, but Sturt were slotting through points from positions where it was harder to do so than get a goal. Snaps from 1 metre out, yes 1 metre out, that didn't even trouble the scoreboard but went out on the full. I could have handled losing this game if Torrens had played fast furious football, but they were boring and mediocre, yet were never in real danger of losing. So again, being harsh on them, but really more annoyed that I can't have any faith in them beating Centrals in the finals.

For Sturt, game over, sick of saying that one week and then thinking we're alive the next, but that game proved we've gone nowhere fast and in my opinion, I think Norman should be sacked come seasons end.

... that might seem like a VERY severe backlash against the coach who took us to the Grand Final last season, but I'm starting to think the players must have done that and not him, as where is that motivational prowess now?

No game plan. No forward movement. No idea.

Based on what I saw today, I can't even be bothered going to see them the next couple of weeks. This season is far worse than the majority of the spooner years back in the 1990's.

CSBOWES besides your teams woeful goal kicking attempts today.Part of the eagles determination could be put down to what was said on AA in the sports show this week by the player named on Sturts banner.
Something along the line of we thrashed South last week and this week in my 200 we play a mediocre team
.
Perhaps that player on the banner should have watched what he says in the media .

Its nice to be back normal and beat sturt at Fortress Woodville ;)

I'm sorry, but that statement is a complete and utter load of garbage, a fabrication. I will cop losing to your mob on the chin but I won't, on behalf of all Sturt supporters, cop rubbish like that being fabricated by a keyboard warrior such as yourself. I heard the interview in it's entirety and I can categorically state that at no point in the interview did Ben Nelson come remotely close to suggesting what you have typed. The game itself was only briefly touched on in fact, and Ben suggested that the competition from third down to seventh was extremely tight and that the game v WWT was a 'four point game'.

So having said that, I suggest you retract, delete or apologise for the outlandish statement.

Enjoy the win as much as you like (if you come up against a side that can execute basic football skills you'll be found out) but leave the fanciful stories out of it.
