All that presumes he's 'failed', bunton,.

The record shows that, with a 3 spoons in a row side, he's finished last with the list he took over, 6th with 8 wins and 6th with 10 wins - hardly a failure.

The list he took over had to be turned over - with a few exceptions, they'd proven to be not up to it.

He'd be disappointed in this year's final result, but he's made a solid foundation to work on.

Bunton wrote:struggling to cop the "poor Collo - the only reason he is not a premiership coach, is because he has a crap list" train of thinking. The Club has bought in more recruits than you could poke a stick at over the three years that he has been there. Some great, many ordinary like Birss, Krakour, Langford, etc, and some that came and went very quickly, but the point is Andy picked them all, and also moved on many players there were there when he arrived. If the list is crap, then that it his fault - no club in the SANFL has provided more autonomy and transfer-fee cash in recent times than Westies have for Collins.

He needs to live and die by his results - after three years, the excuses are no longer relevant.

What he has done though is got them out of a rut and got them off the bottom of the ladder after five spoons in a row. They just missed the finals this season by 1/2 a game. I think that next season will be the true indicator of his ability, should West play in the finals which I think that they will, he will no doubt be held in high regard by the members, if however West miss the finals again or go backwards from sixth I think it will get pretty messy quite quickly down at Milner ave!

Hard to argue with that Bunton, though I wouldn't say our recruiting has been excessive. There was a big turnover in year one, as there had to be, and some of that year's recruits had already been lined up prior to his appointment. Last year we added 5 players, 2 of whom (Chubb and Hartlett) were returning to the club.
But yes, no one forces players onto him. He would be well aware that he is responsible for the way we play and our results, and that he will be judged by those criteria.

And Sojourner, please don't give us any more wooden spoons than we've earned - it was 4, not 5.

It only took us or should I say Healy after getting some choice words from a few senior players at halftime of the round 20 game against South to throw out some of the defensive rubbish and half attack!

Thanks for that, otr. I spent years listening to your lectures about my club being unprofessional and having no support. I've watched your club and have decided there's not much there to learn from, so I no longer take much notice of your predictable outpourings any more on the subject of West Adelaide, except to enjoy the venom :D

I'll now retreat to my bomb shelter to survive your next onslaught ;)

Hmm not sure what to make of your response - I wasn't having a go at West Adelaide as such but even you would be hard pressed to argue that the last time North and West met we won esily and you flooded more than we did in that game.

Maybe your upset that Alleway turned down the offer Collins personally made to him to switch clubs?

Can anyone tell me if Andy Collins coached the Reserves side yesterday in the Eliminaton final?

Correct, Andy left Ben to coach the side while chattd with former Hawthorn team-mate John Platten and Central league coach ROy Laird in the stands.

A little surprised by the delistings of Shane Birrs, Tom Langford and Myles Krakouer. Clearly though in respect to the import rule this then opens up a further two places on the list for interstate players to come into the side.

Although perhaps I havent watched the other two as closely, Birrs seemed to have some real talent as a footballer, clearly then the staff must feel that there is not anymore left in the tank for them to draw out and improve the lad as a footballer. Will no doubt return to the VFL and probably do well.

and surely if they were bringing the rule in there would be like a 2 year period where they say at the end of the 2012 season the import rule will take effect and these are the exact rules you will be adhering to.

Surely they cant spring this on the clubs mid season or so forth.

Birss played half the year in the B's and the other two all year. Not good enough for your import slots.

Will Andy Collins be at West in 2012 if they miss the finals this season?

Us members and supporters have been very patient but I think enough is enough. If we don't play finals footy this year (highly likely the way we're going at the moment), I would be surprised if he was allowed to go on.

Not questioning any bloods fan, but would as much of the blame lie with the Westies players and their lack of discipline?

Fair call for today only JTC and we also have had alot of injuries that we just can't cover. If we can get our full team on the park, we will be very hard to beat.

May have to wait until the end of the season to see where we really are at.

It's irrelevant where we finish, he's contracted for next year and we couldn't afford to pay him out.
