its a fact the standard of the SANFL now does not compare to previous decades but thats not centrals fault and they should just enjoy dominating the competition. At this stage I cant see them falling off the wagon for awhile. :)

You are contradicting yourself with your statements above.
On one hand you are saying it is pointless comparing to previous eras then you are saying that it is a fact the SANFL is not as good as it was.
I beleive the football is better than it has ever been but you do not have the profile of the players or the SANFL as it used to be.

Got a long way to go before you're more successful than Norwood

do an average of years in exsistance to premierships.

Port Magpies Overall Success Rate 1907-2009: 68.1%
WWT Eagles Overall Success Rate 1991-2009: 61.5%
Norwood Overall Success Rate 1907-2009: 56.8%
Centrals Overall Success Rate 1964-2009: 52.8%
North Adelaide Overall Success Rate 1907-2009: 51.4%
Sturt Overall Success Rate 1907-2009: 51.1%
West Adelaide Overall Success Rate 1907-2009: 46.1%
West Torrens Overall Success Rate 1907-1990: 45.6%
Glenelg Overall Success Rate 1921-2009: 44.2%
South Adelaide Overall Success Rate 1907-2009: 35.4%
Woodville Overall Success Rate 1964-1990: 28.2%

Success rate is the percentage of games won over a given period, with a draw being deemed to represent half a win.

Great stats Magarey but there is no consisitent starting point for all clubs, i note you show Port, Norwood ,Sturt,West, South, North, West, West, Torrens , South as from 1907 Glenelg 1921 Central, Woodville 1964 WWT Eagles 1991.

Do you start the stats from 1870 Port or 1878 Norwood 1921 Glenelg 1964 Central Woodville 1990 WWT its all subjective.

To be fair your starting point for this stat might have to be 1991 to be in line with the same amount of years WWT football club has been in the comp.

You cannot have a true stat with some clubs who have various number of years in the competition ie 102 years, 88 yrs, 45 yrs and 18 yrs in the league.

This is really a hard one as the league has changed so much over 139 years and it will continue to change in the future i reckon.

Very interesting tho.
