I will welcome Parry to Oval Ave with open arms because it was clear to most that dobba was out of his depth as lead ruckmen.
It was clear to most at Westies too but thanks for the $20K .

Brotherly love runs deep as Boyd walks
GONE: James Boyd has quit the Panthers.
JAMES Boyd said his brother’s delisting at South Adelaide in late October contributed to his decision to leave the Panthers last week.
James’ older brother Tim was one of five South players from last season who were not invited to do a preseason with the club this year.
``It didn’t really help. I was pretty shattered that he was gone,’’ Boyd, South’s 2008 best and fairest winner, said.
``We’ve always driven to training together and I’ve loved having him there.’’
But the 20-year-old midfielder said he had been contemplating a move to another club since the end of the season.
``I just needed a change. I’ve been at South all my life.
``I love the club, I love the boys down there, I’ve got nothing against South Adelaide. I just need a new challenge in my footy.’’
Boyd, who finished runner-up in the Magarey Medal in 2008 and captained the state under-20 side this year, said he was interested in talking to any SANFL club.
``I’m not selling myself, it’s not about money at all. If it was I wouldn’t be leaving South.
``I just want to be part of a team environment where we can win footy games.’’
New South coach Ron Fuller said Boyd had committed to the club when the pair first met.
This meeting occurred after Tim Boyd was delisted.

Ruckman’s roulette
NOARLUNGA OR VEGAS: Craig Parry had to choose between
going to a friend's wedding Las Vegas or staying at South.
SOUTH Adelaide ruckman Craig Parry was forced to choose between a pre-booked trip to Las Vegas or staying at the Panthers last week.
In the wake of the state ruckman’s shock departure from Noarlunga, Parry has revealed the ultimatum was put to him by new coach Ron Fuller who refused to allow him to travel to the US for one of his best friend’s wedding in March next year because it would mean missing a game.
Parry, who said he had already been given clearance by former coach Clay Sampson to make the trip, was disappointed by the way the issue was handled.
``It came as quite a shock when Ron called and said I couldn’t go,’’ Parry said.
``It’s disappointing because I had already met with Ron and committed to the club and was looking forward to beginning a new era under him.’’
Fuller’s stance on the issue appears to be part of a deliberate approach to change the culture at South.
One of his first messages to the playing group was that he is not a players’ coach and he has warned any players taking holidays during the pre-season training period will be forced to play in the Reserves for the club’s first two trial matches.
This includes star full-forward Ben Warren, who will miss a week of training in January to get married.
``Everyone’s got to be treated the same,’’ Fuller said.
``I’m not here to make friends. It’s got to be about the players that adhere to the rules.. especially here at South Adelaide, we’ve got to do it better than anyone else.’’
Fuller said Parry had failed to inform him of the trip when the pair had their first player-coach meeting.
South CEO Ben Kavenagh backed Fuller’s approach.
``We finished ninth last season so we need to do things differently, do things smarter,’’ he said.
Parry’s departure and the club’s failure to sign Michael Griffiths from East Fremantle leaves the Panthers’ ruck stocks thread-bare.
Fuller said there was ``still a lot of recruiting to be done’’.
Parry, who signed with Woodville-West Torrens for three years last week, has been one of South’s most outstanding players since joining the club in 2005.
He is a three-time state ruckman and finished runner-up in the best and fairest in 2006, the last time the Panthers played in the finals.
``I enjoyed my time at South,’’ Parry said.
``I want to thank the players, support staff, supporters and major sponsors especially Tony Boyle from Southgate Holden for the last six years. It’s a shame it had to end this way.’’

The South propaganda machine is working nicely I see.
All recent seasons of failure can be all attributed to the players apparently.
I guess we will see if Ron Fuller can coach at last.
I think South can break the record for consecutive wooden spoons.

However the appointment of Cahill will hopefully be the start of a successful period for the club.Cahill is starting from scratch and to get the desired outcome he needs to have the people around him that he feels comfortable with. If that includes Trevor Potts, terrific, if it does not then so be it.
Cahill has a 2 yr contract and at the end of the day he will be judged on performance. If he can deliver South some marked improvement and perhaps a premiership I would'nt care if he had Humphrey Bear as his assistant.
Totally agree b&w.
Cahill is there to make the tough decisions and get the right mix to go forward. Tough calls have to be made with out the influence of the board getting involved and so called "other" outside influences.
It's going to be tough but I feel in the long run with pay off in the end.

I understand that no club will sign him till after the draft ( I don't think he has a snowballs) as they have to pay a transfer fee as the Eagles did for Parry as he is under contract for next season. The transfer fee is not insignificant but at least it does not count towards the salary cap.
