That thing is the gross injustice that my team, the Bloods, also known as Westies, hasn't won more premierships.
Now, it's just a fact that West are the philanthropists of the SANFL. We've helped just about every club to win one, apart perhaps from North, but you'll all agree we have to draw the line somewhere. Those poor South supporters bemoaning the lack of a premiership since 1964 have turned to us once again, hoping to repeat the Neil Kerley experience. Centrals are comparing their current dynasty to Port of the 50's and Sturt of the 60's. Who did Jack Oatey coach immediately before Sturt? You guessed it. Which club did their first captain of that dynasty, Glynn Williams, come from? Correct again. Current coach - Westies. Reserves coach - Westies.
Port? Just mention that West Adelaide player, Fos Williams. Enough said.
The Bays? You're kidding. First premiership coach, Bruce McGregor, next one, Neil Kerley. Current coach - Westies, reserves coach - Westies.
Centrals - well, who got them started. Right again, we lent them Ken Eustice.
I could go on about each club, but having conquered SA, we decided we loved footy in Australia so much, we decided to win more Brownlows than any other SANFL club and lend more champions through the draft than any other.
It's annoying.
Watch out when we decide to stop looking after all you lot and look after ourselves.
Stop press: Watch out.
We've decided to look after ourselves
