Keep this one for the archives- Spelly was wrong!

Never thought I'd live to see the day

You'll have to keep on living; Glenelg did not even make the Under 17s finals that year. Norwood beat Sturt 14.11 to 6.9 to win the 1986 Under 17s flag, In the list of under age premierships in past year books, Norwood is the only team next to 1986 for the 17s.

Glenelg finished 6th in 1986:

Darn, that means the SANFL Media Guide is wrong. Sorry Spelly for doubting you and putting faith in the 'bible'.
Please forgive me.

No problems at all, bp, that should be correct for the next Media Guide. :) The table at the bottom of that page is correct in that Glenelg have won 5 Under 17s flags and the last was in 1975.

Also worries me if Sturt do win the other three flags. 1986 was of course a Glenelg premiership year. What I thought an omen for us is looking more like one for them given the closeness of Sturt and Norwood in many ways.

the last time Wall St crashed (1987), Glenelg lost the GF to North 8) :D
Wall St had a trillion wiped off in it's single biggest drop in 1 day, Glenelg are playing in the GF...

I'm not one for omens but last week the G-----G Cats lost after finishing minor Premiers. Tigers are just very big cats. Very simple omen.

I did a fart this morning which sounded similar to the first line of 'we're from Tigerland'.

On that basis, I think they will win.

I reckon this thread got a mention in the ABC's tv report last night.

"In a match where both team's supporters were looking for omens...."
