Now there is a situation that might get me to barrack for the Port Adelaide magpies - or Westies... 8)

I didn't mention them only because it would be easier to support North than the other two.
I was talking about exceptional circumstances that would influence me to support the two I have negative feelings towards.

National 3rd tier Competition?

NEAFL releases 2011 drawThe draw has been released for the new North East Australian Football League for 2011.

The new North East AFL (NEAFL) competition has released its draw ahead of the 2011 season.

For the Eastern Conference draw http://www.aflnswact.com.au/fileadmin/user_upload/IMAGES/NEAFL/NEAFL_2011_Eastern_Draw.pdfand for the Northern Conference draw http://www.aflnswact.com.au/fileadmin/user_upload/IMAGES/NEAFL/NEAFL_2011_Northern_Draw.pdfThe new competition provides significant exposure for local players with the Sydney Swans, Greater Western Sydney Giants, Gold Coast Suns and Brisbane Lions playing in the same competition as AFL Canberra and AFL Queensland.

Local clubs will now be able to travel interstate for matches and be exposed to AFL coaches, talent scouts and facilities.

The Eastern Conference clubs, Belconnen, Queanbeyan, Eastlake, Tuggeranong, Ainslie, Greater Western Sydney Giants and the Sydney Swans will all be eagerly anticipating the opening bounce of the season in April

The NEFL's aim is to become the 4th of the second tier competitions
ie SANFL, WAFL, VFL and NEFL.

This leaves only Tasmania without a link, they dropped the Devils side in the VFL three years back to recommence a State League which has 10 clubs (5 South, 5 North or North West)

My only surprise is the lack of any sydney teams outside of the AFL reserves sides.

I know the Sydney AFL is weaker than the AFL ACT comp but I thought the best way to help is to get a team of two involved.

How does the AFL view/want what is to become the 2nd tier?
Is it the same as your view?

North to play in Brisbane and Port in Sydney

Thought Port admin would be pushing for a Power curtain raiser, the absence of this in the programming confirms they arent interested in pushing the ONE PAFC brand moreso trying to get increased attendences via Norwood/Sturt fans turning up

Doesn't confirm it at all. The AFL may well have been asked by Port to have them play their game as a curtain raiser in Adelaide before Port game. Wouldn't be their fault if the AFL decided not to have that happen.

The final of this is August 13? Port, North and West all play that round, North the Friday night, Port v West is on the Sunday with the game from what I can tell on the Saturday. So which game do you take seriously? You wouldn't expect to have too many guys play consecutive days at full fitness so if the Port/West game is looking important for finals, they would almost have to decide which competition is more important. Exactly the situation the top sides wanted to avoid.

very good point grahaml.....if for example west are playing for a top 3 or 5 spot on that weekend & decide to pull out of the daffy duck cup, is there a penalty to do so seeing they signed up for it ? if they did play 2 games in 2 or 3 days wouldn't that say the the (this) sanfl clubs don't really care anyway...............or does the previous clash between the programmed teams end up being a 4 point game ? could they make it a mid week game ? i wouldn't mind going to a wednesday night game at richmond
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Only 1 side would be wanting to change the game, unless the opposition got super generous and helped out I can't see the 2 games in 2 days scenario panning out differently unless our sides got knocked out before reaching the final.
