Tell me what is so wrong with some recent statements on the website? Today's release in the main is well structured and factual, the original release about the Port Merger going back to late 2009 was supported by the 7 other clubs who also voted NO to the merger in Feb - including your club or have you forgotten that?

I can't recall anything put out by the WWTFC that would constitute any sort of self or independent opinion but still you lot are probably still struggling with being a bastard child of two dead parents.

Sorry but your head is up your ar*e

once were warriors what part has his head up his ass?

1 north having an opinion and publically stating it?

2 the whole 8 other clubs voting no in 09 with the port merger?

3 WWTFC not coming out and saying what they think?

4 your club being the bastard child of two dead (and piss weak) parents?

I think point 1 - specifically, not being able to spell publicly......

Point 4 and to a lesser extent point 3.

I have no problem with North stating their position and engaging in the competition , but to add commentary that Aeire has highlighted is not only superfluous to the overall debate, its schoolyard quality and embarassing.

One word... gutless.

If you think you're the best team in the land, put up or shut up.

If you think you're the best competition in the land outside the AFL, put up or shut up.

Where have you got this from? I think the statement from the five clubs gives their reasons for declining, and it has nothing to do with being full of self-importance or being gutless. Simply about not running head first into something that even the AFL admit they don't know the details of yet, and not risking the chance of the ultimate prize.

Its common sense IMO, but again, no issues with the clubs who have chosen to take part. Wish them all the best.

You're missing my point. I think you'll win the flag anyway even if you were the only SANFL team to miss the byes.

I think Centrals are a great club and well enough coached and managed to win the SANFL flag AND this damned national comp on behalf of the SANFL! At the same time they give their players opportunities outside the SANFL comp to do things they likely would never be able to and their fans get double bragging rights. You seriously wouldn't want to claim the best state league club in Australia for 2011?

I want the best SANFL team to get the bragging rights in this 2nd tier comp.

They disagree, fine.

I think its fair to say your missing the point Hondo.

The more chance the cdfc/ any club has of winning the sanfl flag this year. The stronger the case against the Champions league is.

If there is one thing centrals know more than any other club. That is how much a SANFL grand final appearance/SANFL premiership is worth to a club in $$$$. Fair to say they have collected a bit of statistical data over the last 11 seasons. And I know the cdfc board thru its due dilligence has run projections on what our finances be like without this revenue stream.

And after looking at the figures they can not justify the risk of losing the GF/Premiership revenue stream. For a possible max return $40K.

Make sense ?????

Whilst I understand your point only two of the 5 clubs can play in the Gf and we will only have one ultimate winner as always. I can understand the top clubs wanting to back themselves to achieve that goal/income. Especially the CDFC in this instance.

The only flip-side to that RC to be fair, is that noone knows what value (excluding prize-money) a Champions league title would similarly add to their coffers.

Ofcourse They wouldnt know exactly but the clubs did projections. They wouldnt of just guessed/plucked out a figure before declining.

Dont get me wrong CP I dont think anyone knows all the details about the league as of yet. As everyday it seems we find out more and more.

All I can tell you is why the CDFC didnt join. And it makes sense to me.

BTW I understand the point hondo is making. I just think the focus should be placed on a club he doesnt think will win the flag. As opposed to one he thinks will .

I cant understand any supporter being upset with its club wanting to have a single minded approach to winning the 2011 SANFL flag.

Yeah fair call mate, not long after I posted I realised the difference between knowing the range of income a SANFL premiership WILL make, and what a CL title COULD make

Looks like csbowes (p38 of this thread) and myself (p34) should have merged our threads into one protest letter that could have been fired off to Sturt FC. Look - the AFL & television want this new comp to work - us SANFL diehards might as well get used to it and I believe it can be a valuable comp that will provide variety to the usual footy season. I am really annoyed that Sturt didn't put their hand up to play in 2011 - passed up a golden chance for national exposure and testing out the younger players in unfamiliar playing conditions.

if this is foxtels idea that the afl is pushing, whatabout this scenario that will not cost any club australia wide at all............foxtel takes the live feed from the abc to whichever state has what would be considered the match of the day, whether that be in adelaide, melbourne, perth etc etc or alternatively foxtel takes the live feed & takes in turn (ie round 1 vfl, round 2, wafl, round 3 sanfl etc etc) to 'showcase' the different leagues
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Full VFL fixture here

One thing to note ... the May 21 date orginally scheduled for a state game (SANFL v VFL) is now a normal VFL round.

So that makes it official that there will be NO STATE GAME in 2011. :(

Oh well, trip to Melbourne cancelled but now replaced by a trip to Brissie! :)
Shame though as it was a great day the last time SA played at Pt Melbourne.
If I didn't follow West, North or Port I'd be spewing!

Interesting that the VFL appear to have reacted swiftly to make major changes to their fixture list in order to accommodate the 2nd tier comp.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Important to admit when you are wrong, so here it goes.

Looks like the 2011 schedule will come out earlier than I expected.

There is now a DRAFT 2011 SANFL Schedule circulating around the clubs for comment which close today.

Based on that an official release should be out either just before the Christmas / New Year break or more likely just after.

Do the teams playing in the 2nd tier comp. get the same amount of byes as the rest of the comp.? (cant be bothered looking ;) )
Why couldnt the SANFL change their season like with the VFL. Would that have made a difference with the way Centrals, Norwood and Sturt handled it?

Apparantly the WAFL wants out now over issues with insurance.

Note: I've only heard this on BigFooty so not sure how much credence this has.

Wouldn't it be funny if A bottom team from the SANFL goes on to win this competition. I would laugh myself silly if Port won this. I don't see the need for it. But if West Adelaide wins it I will be wrapped.

I was really referring to people on here who expressed this "we're too good for them" line and as a result "we have nothing to prove", that holier than thou attitude is ridiculous.
