Angus Bruggemann comes to the club after spending season 2014 with the Port Adelaide Magpies. Angus played mainly as a ruckman for Port due to injury to some of their key big men however; Angus has been recruited to add depth to our forward line. At 193cm and 98 kgs, Angus will provide us with a strong marking target.

Jackson Allen has spent the past three years on the Gold Coast Suns list where he played four games as a defender. He comes to Sturt looking for opportunities through the midfield. He is a product of the Suns’ QLD zone but grew up in Mt.Gambier. Jackson is an elite kick and has a strong work ethic. He will begin training with the club in the New Year.

Didn't have to risk the crown jewels for too long BP!!

Ha ha, I'll never be able to live that one down !!!

Hey, I never said it wasn't going to NOT happen, I simply pointed out that, according to Zac Milbank's article, Bruggermann had 'committed' to the Magpies and their Footy Manager was quoted as being delighted about that...

But, yes, I agree, I do hate it when the media get it wrong :)

Was always going to be hard for him to stay once the Power drafted three 18 year olds taller than him, plus those already on the list. Good on him. Sturt may just become my second SANFL team next year with the way their recruiting is going :P

I think Bruggemann will certainly add an extra dimension to Sturt's forward line and he can back up Kurtze nicely in the ruck, of course...

The only thing I would be thinking is that on a wet, boggy and wintery day in the middle of June, a three pronged attack of Duldig, Coad and Bruggermann might be a little too top-heavy on the smaller confines of Unley Oval...

There's also the matter of Mark Evans. I doubt he's been recruited to keep the pine warm. He'll certainly spend some time in the mid field, but, clearly he's a forward option as well.

Agreed, but I would consider him a small forward, although he can play tall as well...

I think Evans is the best of Sturt's recruiting. When injury free and full of confidence, he is one the most dangerous forwards in the comp, IMO...

Evo actually played as a tall (3rd) forward with us. Has good hands, but goes to ground unnecessarily too often. If he can cut that back he can be an excellent SANFL player for a lot of years.

It obviously just gives Sturt more options. They have a few that can go forward or back .

Absolutely, they look to have plenty of versatility. Would expect them to continue their exceptional turnaround and be right up near the money again.
