Personally I think the Eagles are just recruiting in a smart fashion and have beome a club people desire to play at so are willing to make sacrifices knowing they'll have a red hot go at the flag. Their mix of young blood and well targetted recruits this year was top notch.

I know Wedgie we haven’t seen eye to eye on footy stuff over the years
Totally agree with your comments today .

For all the fans screaming salary cap breaches would you say the same for your clubs doubt it

Agreed, but it seems (not from you, just in general) this line of thought is only used selectively.

Obviously Norwood are different mate, there's no other explanation except for huge paper bags full of cash as all things being equal noone in their right mind would want to play for that shitty club in front of their wanker suporters. ;)

Just like the Dogs in the decade they won all their premierships.
Something about a pot and a black kettle.

Personally, I've never been comfortable seeing this sort of stuff pointed at anyone without reasoned argument. It takes from the gloss of achieving what should be the primary goal of every club participating in the SANFL. (Yikes, there's that 'integrity' thing again.)

You said it yourself...
Do you think with all this crap flying around about the premier "Eagles" and all their recruits and their salary cap, that the SANFL would not be closely watching and scrutinising their situation. The Eagles would be foolish to do anything underhanded

Good point, now as it was during Centrals' era. We heard years of this sort of "paper bag kings" tripe dating back well before this site in the old Footy SA days - and copped it sweet for much of it.

That and the oft debunked "pokie fuelled premierships" gem. I even heard some Dunning-Kruger case study banging on about that one quite recently on Jules Schiller's program on the ABC as the "reason" she supposedly stopped coming to local games 10 years ago. I think some serial dick head also lung-buttered that old chest-nut briefly on this forum recently too, can't be arsed finding it.

I hope that settles the dust a bit.

Oh, and that should be "Something about a black pot and a kettle" to follow the proverbial idiom correctly, but, whatever. I appreciate that proof-reading and coherence isn't everyone's thing.

(Sorry about the rant, folks.)

Will be good for them.

Reckon they also have 2 ex North Melbourne that will head there depending on draft outcome.

Puopolo signs with Norwood.
Some great recruiting there by Norwood to quickly fill the large void left with Szusts' departure....

If I knew I would say. If I couldn't say I would not post.

Otherwise I just make it up.

I can't think of a season in recent time where so many ex-AFL players have decided to play SANFL after being delisted or retiring.

Beyond these players there are a host of ex VFL and NEAFL players that will be playing in our league.

At this stage there doesn't seem to be a mass exodus of quality players from the SANFL that many of us were fearing due to the reduced salary cap

The standard of footy next year should be really high.

Good chance to stand out in SANFL rather than the eastern states league with 20 odd teams and a heap of competition for air time

Agreed.

These SANFL should be promoting the hell out of the competition for next season given all these well known names e.g. Gibbs, Puopolo etc
