Mr Fuller wrote:Holden, do you have any information about whether we are still targeting anymore players or is that it for the year with our announced recruits?
I think we still desperately need a good quick midfielder and if we can get that, I think we will have met almost every need and would be extremely confident going into next sesaon. Unless someone in the reserves from this year stands up for next season, I really don't think the solution can be found there.
I still believe B Sumner will get drafted either the pre-season/rookie draft but if we can hold onto him or if he stays in SA then that will be a bonus because I fully expected him to be drafted to an interstate AFL club. In the paper today he was quoted as saying that his manager believes the Crows are interested in him as rookie but that remains to be seen.

Really, Greiger is the only major loss because his output and competitiveness was excellent most of the time.
The others were either past their best, jokes (Eddy) or too young to be missed when we have very good young players coming through this next season from inside the club or outside also.
There won't be any soft games on offer for players like Fairclough, Bock or Lane in 2013 and that's what will improve the Eagles as much as anything.... oh and Ainger might be handy up forward!

As good as Grieger was and as much as we'll miss him, I reckon he is easier to replace than McKenzie or Cica. Godden didn't put a lot of game time in to the young players last season so to expect much from anyone outside the usual from 2012 would be more hope than expectation. It will be interesting to see how the Eagles go, but I can't see them being in premiership calculations for next season.
