I didn't hear it, did anyone on here?

Yep, administrative error were the words he used.

About time.

Slap on the wrist as expected.

Still Premiers. :D

NORWOOD FC CHARGED WITH SALARY CAP REGULATION BREACH

The SA Football Commission wishes to advise that the Norwood Football Club have been charged with a breach of the SANFL’s Salary Cap regulations relating to their 2012 player payments.

Player payment details from the Norwood Football Club (“NFC”) were presented to the SA Football Commission (“the Commission”) by the Salary Cap Investigation Committee (“Investigation Committee”) for deliberation last night.

The Investigation Committee highlighted concerns relating to the memorandum of payments submitted to the SANFL in both March and October 2012, which in their belief does not include the total extent of contractual benefits provided to one NFC player.

Under the SANFL’s Salary Cap regulations, all payments made to players directly relating to on field performance must be disclosed to the SANFL.

A breach of the Salary Cap regulations which does not see the Club breach the Salary Cap limit attracts a maximum $50,000 fine. However, the Commission can impose additional penalties at its discretion.

General Manager Football Chris Davies said “Although this breach does not see the NFC exceed their Salary Cap limit, all Clubs are aware of their responsibilities to lodge their complete player payment schedules to the SANFL at the start and end of the season.”

“Correspondence was sent to NFC today and they now have until the 25th of March to respond to the charge.”

The old storm in a tea cup. Glad it's over and glad Norwood's premiership in 2012 is not tainted given the very minimal breach that has occurred.

When's the footy start!?

It's to do with Kieran McGuiness' contract changing mid year from a normal player contract to a marketing one due to his season ending injury. In saying that, even with these payments Norwood were still under the salary cap for 2012. I guess its a bit like the Tippett salary cap "mistake"

If Norwood didnt notify the SANFL of the contract change its a pretty stupid error, and $50K is a pretty big penalty for a stupid error on the managements behalf.

So the key to making the Grand Final is to have incompetent administrators?

Apparently.

On MMM now the SANFL rep is saying that Norwood didnt lodge ALL their contract papers properly so are being fined the $50K. Pretty big fine for not lodging papers. Although players have been dropped from the Cricket Test team for this ;)

Ditts said Norwood were over the $360K salary cap, which they werent. And even with this new charge the SANFL GM has said that Norwood still arent over the salary cap. No apology from Norwood required.
