would craig parry's arrival to wwt have caused him to make this decision ? or is it more to do with time or injuries ?

A Liddle help for South

VICS KICK IN: VFL recruits Xavier Gotch, Nick Liddle, Andrew
Horne and Dylan Joyce will add some strength to the Panthers.
SOUTH Adelaide has added a quartet of Victorian midfielders as it seeks to rebuild for the 2010 SANFL season.
Coburg onballers Andrew Horne and Nick Liddle have joined Williamstown recruits Dylan Joyce and Xavier Gotch as the Panthers look to add drive in the middle of the ground.
Horne, 21, was nervous and excited about signing with a new club, but is now looking forward to the year.
``They’ve got big grounds here and once we win the ball out into space, we can cut up a few teams,’’ he said. The 2008 VFL Team of the Year member said playing in the SANFL will be a lot different than the VFL.
``Each week, there are up to 15 AFL players in the team (in the VFL), so it can be hard to get a game there.’’
Horne will not begin full preseason training until after Christmas because of a slight case of osteitis pubis and is currently limited to swimming, cycling and boxing.
Fellow recruit Liddle, 21, won the best and fairest at Coburg in 2009.
``Coburg weren’t going so well, and I’d been there three years so it was a good opportunity for experience,” he said.
``My fitness is fine. I did a little bit of stuff by myself in Melbourne before coming over here, but training here was another step up, more intense.
``Firstly, I want to get into the team, and then be consistent, and hopefully play good enough each week to keep my spot in the side.”
South Adelaide football manager Neill Sharpe said the four midfield signings would be a key to the Panthers development in 2010.
``The club identified a need for midfielders and we’re fortunate to get these quality players,” he said.
``If they get though preseason well they should play straight up, but there are never any guarantees.
``We are looking for the guys to play the best footy they can.’’
The Panthers began preseason training last month and will play three trial games against SANFL teams, starting with the Eagles on Saturday, February 27, at Hickinbotham Oval.
South is again at home to take on Port Adelaide Magpies on March 13, then Norwood on March 20 at Coopers Stadium.

Chris Davies @ WWTFC wrote:The WWTFC is saddened to announce the retirement of Brad Dabrowski after a total of 149 SANFL games (79 with West Adelaide, 70 with the Eagles), over a career that spanned 10 seasons.
The two time State representative, 2006 premiership player and Club vice captain said “Towards the end of the 2009 season my priorities in life had started to change. I came to the realisation that interests and goals outside of football which have had to be sacrificed due to the requirements of playing League football are now to become my main focus”.
“Ultimately, this has led me to make this decision and I look forward to having a winter in which I can pursue these interests with the same energy that I have approached my football”.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Eagles and leave the Club with fantastic memories and many good friends and I wish everyone associated with the Club all the best for 2010”.
Eagles coach Michael Godden said of the decision “Both the Club and I have appreciated Brad’s honesty throughout his decision making process”.
“It really is a testament to the man that he put the Club’s interests first, in making sure that we were aware of the likelihood of him making this decision”.
“It allowed us to put a recruiting process in place to cover Brad should he make the decision to retire which has helped us immensely”.
Please join me in thanking Brad for his service to the Club and in wishing him all the best for the future.

Giles wants out at Central
SWAPPING SIDES: Central ruckman Jon Giles could be headed to Sturt.
JON Giles has told Central District he wants a transfer to another SANFL club because of a perceived lack of playing time.
Bulldogs CEO Kris Grant said the dual premiership ruckman believes being forced to play second fiddle to Jason MacKenzie in 2009 cost him his AFL career.
Giles, 21, was delisted by Port Adelaide at the end of the season after failing to crack in to the Power side during four seasons on the club’s list.
``He’s told us he doesn’t want to play here anymore,’’ Grant said.
``I think he believes he doesn’t get enough game time with us, which cost him his AFL spot.’’
Grant said Bulldogs coach Roy Laird had told Giles he would have greater playing opportunities in 2010, but the 199cm tapman was not convinced.
``We’re bitterly disappointed. For a bloke that’s played in two premierships for us to want to leave is just massively disappointing.’’
Grant said Sturt has asked for permission to speak with Giles, who hails from Kapunda in the Bulldogs zone.
``They’ve got to understand there’s a $25,000 transfer fee and we won’t be budging on that,’’ he said.
Giles has played 39 League games for Central and was a reliable back-up to MacKenzie during this season’s finals series.
He kicked the winning goal in the Bulldogs’ come-from-behind win over the Double Blues in the qualifying final.

It's disappointing news, I wonder if Sturt are prepared to pay the transfer fee.
