Yeah I think could happen. Teams looking for ruck depth would be tempted.

Essendon are still very keen and will take a ruckman with their only pick on Wednesday, just a matter of which of the 4 ruckmen they choose.

Yep, gone are the days when we hoped our players would stay in the state. Now we all pray they are drafted anywhere but here

Thanks ferret. Good news. As much as people bag Petrenko, I think he will offer a bit being able to commit only to the Eagles.

I don't think anyone has bagged him (well maybe at AFL level). However at SANFL level he has been useful and has always been someone who has given our club 100% effort when dropped which is all you can ask. The issue is that clearly he is being viewed by Godden as our 'midfield recruit' which is a terrible outcome. He is simply not a midfielder as he doesn't have the skill, creativity or fitness needed to be the type of damaging midfielder we need.

From what I saw last season he was very poor with the Crows, spent most of the time trying to be physical and a tackling machine, but was largely ineffective - Most likely playing on instruction for a possible role the AFC had in mind for him. I would think that role at WWT would be expanded significantly and I would expect him to return to the quality player he used to be when playing for the Eagles.

I think he might get a call up to GWS tomorrow in the rookie draft.

Why do SA do so badly at the draft selection.?
What's wrong here?
Only 8 selected compared over 42 in Victoria.
I expect the same for the rookies.

Same amount of South Australians picked as West Australians, just for reference.

That's easy to answer. The AFL pours $6 million into the Victorian Under 18 competition. - they have to justify it. Also, the payment system had changed for players recruited from S.A under the 'equalisation' system......that's economic rationalism talk for "Let's screw the SANFL a bit more." Now you get a flat $50K regardless of whether you have any drafted or not. Previously, you received up to $50K per player if they went onto play 50 games. Now the SANFL gets $400K to distribute for game development. Total rip off. Norwood who had none drafted get $50K. Sturt and Glenelg who both had 2 drafted get $50 also.

I've bagged him. Lots. Wouldn't expect him to get another crack at AFL level until he improves a few things.

I don't doubt your numbers Knowledge but why the SANFL AND CLUBS don't fight back a bit is beyond me. The greatest example was on the sale of the AFL clubs licences . Put a figure on it and stand by it.............don't want to buy it then rack off . Far out. Our clubs are gutless and weak. Then you have a spineless body running it. I have heard a few interviews by Olsen of late and to think he ran our state.
For some reason we keep getting screwed. Wonder if they have heard the word ...NO ?
