Norwood have long been flag faves, unless you believed the good natured banter here. They were minor premiers. In any case, the ‘flag favourite’ mantle is meaningless.

The number of wins in the minor round is completely meaningless, all it does is get you one of the spots in the finals, when the real season starts.

If you insist in dwelling on disappointments, then 1978 should easily rank as no.1, when Sturt only lost to West in the minor round and were infamously 29 points up on Norwood at 3/4 time.

I could try to list all of the Bays’ wasted seasons, but the list would be far too long to recite.

Oh yeah I know all about the 1978 GF - I was there....

About 25 years later I watched the entire game again and the first quarter annoyed me just as much as the last quarter!

But yes, Sturt simply not good enough when it mattered and both CD and Glenelg played brilliant 4th quarters.

For what it’s worth, I think the Legs are still paying Des Foster for that ‘mark’. I once asked Gags to confess it was a gift and all he did was laugh and say that he still had to kick it, which is true.

There were still a few mins to go after that, and the desperation by the Legs to hold firm was remarkable, from memory a smother/block by Danny Jenkins stands out.

Max Proud played arguably his best game I’ve ever seen him play for the club today. His toughness, ability to read the play & one touch game was next level.

Flag is Glenelgs to lose
They'll have a training run next week against Centrals which will have them tuned up for the GF whilst Norwood will be cold with 1 match in 4 weeks.

Think he’s probably my favourite non-Norwood player, calm and ever reliable. Only knock on him is the bastard came out of retirement (don’t think you’ve gone unnoticed either Curran) ;)

Watching the replay last night it was noticeable how well he sets up to read the play and intercept.

At the ground you can hear his and Bails instructional voice to make sure we are set up in correctly to at set kicks
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

going further, our biggest choke was 2009 and add 2021 for good measure
