However by promoting the live stream you expose the competition to a whole range of people that may then chose to go to a game in the future.

At the moment we have no idea what game is going to be on live stream and what isn't until we check the live scores and there it is. It seems the SANFL wants a half baked cake and thats what it is getting.

Bit like retail stores going online, you need to change with the times to succeed. If you are not getting better you are almost certainly getting worse.

or are they setting up a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy? no promotion > few people watch it > statement released saying it is being dropped completely as it isnt popular > statement saying keeping the reserves sides are more important now as without them there will be no TV coverage and it is the only option as the live stream was a "failure"......

Good for people overseas but,
We need radio of all games that engages followers in the car in the shed in the garden and out and about,
as people do on the weekends
Who sits home in front of a Computor in the best part of day.p
I am surprised the clubs like it,
it keeps paying customers away from games and keeps drifting supporters away from the game.

As Wedgie said, you realise you can get internet on just about everything nowadays dont you?

most TV's nowadays (well any decent ones anyway) can get it, so a live stream really could replace the tv broadcast, straight to your lounge room. i just saved the sanfl $1million dollars. surely they can do a live stream each week with that money? mobile phones, tablets, all can access the net. how much more out and about do you want? hell, i believe even some cars can connect to the internet now, just add a sim card and away you go.

and if they did it right, the same stream could be used for a "blind" call too. those that want to get the pictures can, those that either dont want it, or cant watch it, get just the commentators, means they can share the costs associated with the stream. win win win. however, if it isnt regular, and isnt promoted, no one will know so no one will use it.

Not everyone has this mp option, mine doesn't.
Who would stare at a mph for 2 hours during the best part of the day?
Like I said most people's weekends are at the kids footy, in the garden, working, etc, out and about.
I am not addicted to a TV screen, radio to me is still the best medium for coverage.

When that option isn't there, some form of coverage is better than nothing...

I think you'll find more people watch tv than listen to the radio for sports.
A media player can cost as little as $25 and gives you just about any channel in the world.
TV just needs a HDMI port. If you're out and about just play it on your phone, you don't have to look at it and can pretend it's the radio, simple.

I listen to more sport on the radio than watch on TV, maybe that is me being busy and have the sport on in the background whilst working.

Listen to web casts of Milwaukee Brewers baseball during the mornings whilst working

then calls of the SANFL games whilst preparing for mine..

I am not one to sit down on a couch to specifically watch a game.

I think the stream can work as we use our mobiles more and more
BUT
for those live at the game you need a narrowcast LIVE transmission on 88.2FM or something similar that has no delay.

Would LifeFM be willing to cover more than one match per round if the SANFL coughed up the cash?

Is RPH any chance to return to covering matches next year?

No game on TV again this weekend.

What's that 3 weeks in a row or 4 weeks now?

3 weeks in a row, now...

The SANFL's deal with C7 was to cover 18 games, plus finals...

With 23 weeks across the minor round, there are going to be weekends where there are games not being covered...

This is not including the weeks C7 are covering the Olympics as they cover 2 games in the one weekend, at times, to make this up...
