What was the official crowd?

Really? Footy Park still to be used for the SANFL GF? Surely it will be played at Adelaide Oval.

Thought it was a reasonable game of footy given the conditions.
Despite the scoreline, I didn't think we missed too many sitters, West's accuracy was just phenomenal given the conditions, and their ability to get into easier scoring positions in the last quarter against the wind compared to our third. Their on-ballers smashed us around the packs in the last 15 minutes, and this proved the difference.
Hope Ferguson is okay, it looked a real nasty one.

Ferguson can play no doubt, it's just a shame he resorts to amateur dramatics to win frees. Hope he's OK after the collision which has zero to do with his constant bleating and throwing back of his head. He's nearly as bad as Boyd.

Aerie wrote:What a massive opportunity wasted by the Eagles. West did well to come back and fully deserve their win, but it will be one that got away from an Eagles point of view. Not dissimilar to last years finals loss to North.

Jarrad and Powell were outstanding. Often experience comes to the fore and again it was the experienced heads that got the job done. Goldsworthy and Sumner were disappointing. Need these type to lift to be a really good team. Westies were able to win the game because they killed our 3 tall forwards of Ainger, Salter and Staple. These three guys were hopeless today and had no impact whatsoever, besides the clumsy attempted mark by Ainger that knocked out Ferguson. I hope he will be ok. Hall and Poole the only threats up forward, our two smallest players.

Tuck is a class above and thought he willed his side to victory today, including a stint in the ruck against Parry in the 3rd quarter that got them going. So good watching blokes like Tuck and Powell go at it.

Given players lost at the end of the season and players lost through injury this year, it has been a great effort by the Eagles to get this far. They proved today they are good enough to contest against West and hopefully will be good enough next week to get another crack at them.

There will be at least one change. Heath won't be able to get up for the rest of the finals as he will need ample time to recover from Mad Monday. Like I said 3 months ago, Heath and Mitchell should have been played in the Reserves or sent to the Magpies. At least they won't be seen in an Eagles guernsey again.

Not sure about Jarrad, thought he made some poor decisions at times. Often seems to call for the ball running onto his wrong side or gives off a handball to put the receiver on the wrong side when he could have kicked on his left. Certainly one occasion in the second he could have had a shot from fifty but handballed back into trouble

Thought Salter was all right in the first half, but apart from this our big forwards were not much chop. Staple a couple of years ago seemed to struggle with belief, but when he found it became an important part of our flag, but instead of becoming a solid league player, really seems to have regressed.

Sumner's timing just seemed all at sea in whatever he tried to do.

I think some of West players will benefit greatly from the run; Tippett, Mangan, Green all back from at least 4 weeks off.

Mangan has been super all year, although not flashy, would be almost the best recruit to the SANFL this season.
