Sometimes you don't get exactly what you want and maybe the two AFL clubs here, who've been given advantages clubs like Melbourne or Footscray can only dream of, need to suck it up a bit more.

Not sure why you would single out Melbourne and Footscray, given the amount of priority/number 1 draft picks between them. They've used the system as much as any other AFL club has, and in the case of the Melbourne FC, have been able to get away with things that they should have been much more heavily punished for.

Well Melbourne and Footscray have also had to contend with 80% of their revenue ripped out of their coffers every year to pump into the local competition......

..... oh wait.

Let me get this straight, you're saying 80% of PAFC revenue is given back to the SANFL?

Interesting.

No, just saying that when Melbourne or Footscray were struggling financially they didn't have a license holder to go cap in hand to for a handout.

No I'm actually saying that since 1991, 80% of the revenue generated by both the AFC and PAFC has been diverted into SANFL coffers.

It's pretty common knowledge.

Which is what it should do except the bleating Magpies and Power kept draining it back

So why did Port sign the deal to be part of the AFL? If it's such a bad arrangement why enter it?

80% of revenue, or 80% of profit? I thought the arrangement was for profit and the SANFL got nothing back if the club made none, which is what happened for years at first when Port were certain they'd make bundles year in year out like the Crows had.

Yet again you take personal potshots and avoid the real questions.

Answer GL's query on the difference between turnover and profit sunshine.

Btw blaming the SANFL's financial performance on 911 is one of your finest moments.

LOL, Hilarious!! I point out that you clearly think the Corporate world has remained the same for the past decade and a half and you take it as a personal offront.

Whereas IF I were to write that you were a myopic little twerp who is insanely jealous that my club gravitated to the Big League while your club languishes at an ever shrinking local level and who clearly has his head stuck so far up his bum that he can't see the world around him for what it truly is, THAT would be a personal potshot. But I would never actually write that.

It's astounding you can't understand that 911 was the final straw for the likes of Ansett, while the GFC claimed luminaries such as Westpoint Property Group and ABC Learning, etc. And thus the effect filters down to club level crying out for decent sponsors.

And I'm pretty certain you'll find it is 80% of generated revenue that currently goes back to the SANFL. Of which The PAFC delivered in spades during its first decade in the AFL.

ABC learning went under due to poor management (sounds familiar?), they folded in 2008 when the economy was very strong, GFC hit in 2010. Again dont let facts get in the way

So Port turnover $30m your saying $24m goes to the SANFL?

You are out of your depth here...

LOL @ 911 being the last straw for Ansett considering it was placed in Administration a day later. Quick work filling in the doco! I would say the Air New Zealand takeover in February 2000 might have had a bigger influence. Perhaps Port can blame Air New Zealand for being a joke, might as well as they've blamed everyone else.

Ahem, the GFC started in 2007 and really started to bite in 08. It's really not that hard to verify.

And under the antiquated stadium deal, both SA clubs have pumped Millions into the SANFL coffers over 20+ years. This is despite the fact that the Corporate $$ has become increasingly harder to get since the GFC and exacerbated by more Head Offices relocating to the Eastern seaboard.

Hell, even the Crows made a loss if you take out AFL equalization Grants.

And yes Ansett were already struggling but were placed into Voluntary Administration the day after Sept 11 because it's owners would no longer put money into the venture on the back of 911.

Sure sounds like a last straw to me. Thanks for proving my point.

The Crows have paid anywhere from $15-$20M in dividends to the SANFL over the last 20 odd years, in addition to the returns the SANFL received from Football Park.

When was the last time Port paid a dividend to the SANFL?
