GWW - do you know if Stewart's (or the club's) draft philosophy was
a) to pick the best available player when it's your turn, or
b) to pick the best available player required for a role that is needed now or in the future?

Also, I don't know that James Fantasia has done much better at the Crows (or probably the Bulldogs since).

Has anyone ever actually done a study of all the drafts to see who has really shone and who has really just got it all wrong?

Good question Squawk, I'm not sure of the answer to that one.

Which one?

The draft philosophy question, or the empirical study question? I'm not aware of the empirical study having ever been done; but I think the other question has genuine relevance to the discussion about performance evaluation.

You're giving 5's on Bamford and 8's on Collins?

I'll have some of both, thanks... :D

It was meant to reflect the relative chances of all to be the first sacked.
In reality both Bamford and Collins are probably Black Caviar odds or less 8)

If Primus was replaced at the end of the year I'd say Bassett is a big chance

I think that would be a gamble, bringing in a new coach, who hasnt coached in the AFL.

Given that our current board has sacked one coach whilst North has sacked two, I reckon Francou should be more worried than Mass, especially when you consider how our board gave Mickan the opportunity to "change the plan, not the man" at the end of 2010.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

There have been major changes to the North Board since Healy was sacked, so it could be argued that the current North board have sacked no coaches, certainly over the past 15 years, Glenelg have sacked a lot more coaches than any other club.
