The U20 State Squad was based on clubs nominating players. This happened a week before the State squad was announced.

Should mean that if he doesn't get a gig in the senior side he should be a certainty for the early game then.....

Not sure if you have seen Tom Collier from Central. He has been a rock in defence for the Doggies...

Don't forget, players can be added and dropped from that squad in the coming weeks, should their form warrant it...

Played a great game vs Eagles last week.

The blokes a freak. Apparantly barely trained leading up to his first game against the bays and very limited pre season. Really liking the look of the South forward line with Ainger throwing himself at everything this year. Has really taken a big step in his development. A great reward for him

Apparently Jade Sheedy has withdrawn from the State Squad so one would suspect either Paul Thomas, Ty Allen or James Allan will be appointed skipper of the side.

Paul Thomas would have to be short odds then.

Allaway's, if Allan gets it?
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I must admit I am surprised at Josh Donohue being selected in the side

I think most people are (no disrespect intended to JD) .. They obviously have an idea of the model they want and it includes a small forward or two, and I would guess those types are pretty limited.

Wouldn't be surprised if they just picked an extra onballer to fill the role.

i guess it goes back to the debate about whether you pick a side to honour the best players in their respective positons or you pick a side with balance/chemistry etc to win the game ahead.

As far as small forwards go he would be in the best few in the SANFL but if your picking a side to win a game i would rather go with an Eddie Sansbury who can be used as a small forward/midfielder/running defender or a gun midfielder who can rest in the foward lines.
