Correct me if I'm wrong (probably), but I was of the impression that the SANFL club had to contribute a set amount to an AFL player when he played for them??

Jai Bednall just tweeted on his MMCM page that Norwood will not have David Rodan play for them in the SANFL finals this year...

Also opens up a can of worms for the AFL should they get injured and miss a year with a knee recon for example - or miss 70% of the preseason... should the SANFL pay out the players contract?

Then the SANFL clubs should stick together and ban any of them playing during the season at all.
The Crows will no doubt want guys like Henderson to play SANFL this week if he is not picked for them so Centrals should just not pick him and make him sit this week.
The AFL clubs cant have it both ways, they use the SANFL at their whim. The sooner they get a reserves comp and piss off to the VFL the better

Jim05 you couldn't be anymore spot on mate! It's a dog's breakfast and it's about time the SANFL commission had some BALLS and called time on the whole farce. Port Flowers and the Camry's need to be escorted post haste into our Reserves comp with whatever motley team they like, then we will just have to accept that as a comp, the Ressies is toxic! This pulling players every year needs to stop and this is the only way to keep our integrity from the corporate-whore GAYFL. END THE FARCE NOW

Does anyone (Big Phil!!!) actually know who is cleared to play finals, seems Port arent letting anyone play but the Crows are.

That's because Port is a mob of ****s! You think with the year they had on field they would want their players to play in teams that actually have a chance of winning!

In normal circumstances i would agree and this decision may have nothing to do with the events of this week but i would've thought that the events of this week would mean the power players wouldn't be in the right frame of mind for a game this sunday.

True enough but had that tragic death happened during the season I am sure that would have made the team mates resolve even greater the next time they played. You wouldn't think they would forfiet - they would play in memory of their team mate?

I don't think anyone would begrudge players pulling out of this weekends games due to the circumstances of the week, but all of Port's players were removed beforehand by the club.
Find it interesting that virtually all those in the US had played a full season of AFL footy, yet those having to go under the knife so urgently had played significant amounts of SANFL footy. Does this mean SANFL footy is physically harder?
(I know the answer will be that Port want these younger players right for training before the more senior core commence).

In fairness to Port, some of the players unavailable for SANFL weren't ruled out by the club, but elected themselves to get in for surgery quickly.

I know it sucks not being able to include blokes that have been through our SANFL club's system and underage, but for guys like Pfeiffer and Jonas (for example) they are young men hoping to establish a career at AFL level, and if they believe their best opportunity to succeed at that is to get in quicker for surgery and get back on the track quicker and in better shape, then it's hard to knock them for thinking that way.

Was David Rodan ruled out of the SANFL finals by the Power because of some injury or corrective surgery?

if yes, then I find it amazing how agile he was last night on the players revue / concert thingy on the Footy show!

Why is there always issues with Port AFL players? It seems that almost every time an AFL player needs to shift clubs it belongs to the Power, Power players are taken on plane rides to be emergencies leaving SANFL clubs short of players for games

AFL players games qualified

David Rodan pulled out of SANFL finals of his choice. Port gave him the option to play but he does not have a contract for 2013 yet and footy is his lively hood, another knee injury and his wage is gone. You can't condemn that, he has kids to worry about

If David is selected to continue his carreer at the Power and he has other minor injuries that he needs to recover from, before he returns to the Power he can expect to play in the parklands, as far as I am concerned, he is just another AFL money hungry gremlin with no concern for club loyalty whatsoever.

 "P*$s Off David.

Cheers,

If he is worried about his pay check being damaged through injury wouldn't performing on the Footy show be just as dangerous?
