Should be a good crowd of Glenelg people there to hopefully see the 18's win their 4th in a row. and then the ressies.

I really hope not . I am going as a neutral suppoter just to support sa footy.....just hope and will be cheering on the eagles though :)

Well down Southee, hope many more do the same.

Slowdown only got about 10k today so should easily beat that.

If this piece doesn't get you pumped for the week ahead, you're probably not a Doggies supporter.

McDonalds ran a comp for juniors for a SANFL Grand Final experience day for their footy team, one of the lads from my team won (1 of 14) so thats 14 x 40 people that would probably not usually attend going along.

Should be reasonable crowd for the lead up games with Port, Norwood & Glenelg playing.

I sense a fair excitement among the Eagles fans I know and think they have a fair set of closet fans who may well come along for the day.

Id hope they can hit 30k - last few have been ~33-34k havent they?

Based on past experience & the poor showings throughout the Finals Series, I would expect around 22,000 maximum, really.

The Eagles are a genuine chance - like the current odds.
Centrals are deserved favourites.

For 'us' to win - need to play same way as the past 2 weeks.
Attack the man & the ball hard.

Will be interesting to see where Thompson starts - me thinks in the forward line for the 1st quarter & will go back after that.

Like most footy matches - particularly Finals Games, will be won or lost in the middle of the ground. Parry is the key for us (along with the on-ballers to get it off him) but the 'X-factor' is Treeby IMHO. If kicks 4 goals (as the 3rd forward), Eagles win.

Really looking forward to our 1st appearance since 2006.
The boy & I haven't missed a GF since 2004 (what a dirty day that was!).
The traditional 10am start in The Lakes Hotel, then over to the LifeFM Van, then a few 'dobs' in the carpark - my favourite day of the year!!

Worked it out this morning;
1st GF 1976.
Then '77, '78, '79, '80, '81, '82, '83, '84, '85, '86, '87 ... '91 ... '93, '94, '95, '96, '97, ... 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010

This will be my 30th Grand Final !!!

Best: Tie between '78, '84 & 2006
Worst: 2004 (naturally)

Flag Winners: Centrals 9, Port 7, Norwood 4, Glenelg 2, North 2, Sturt 2, Woodville - West Torrens 2, West 1
Stephen Trigg & Rob Chapman are SA Football Patriots

That's the longest odds for an underdog in a SANFL GF in quite a while...I don't think we were that long in 2000.

With all this nonsense about us flogging the Eagles, I suppose there's a sucker somewhere who'll put $1000 on the Dogs to won by 10+ goals like a few GFs ago. Not me btw.

I've got a feeling I put my money last year on the right players for the J.O. medal just picked the wrong year...

amazingly no one has ever really rated the eagles in the last 10 years, despite 6 grandfinals and a premiership (against Centrals)...this sides best under Godden is better than any eagles side in the last 10 years.....dont be surprised ... ;)

Looking forward to what promises to be a tough game and I seriously don't see a blowout hapenning. Credit to the Eagles for getting this far and I'm sure they will make it a real contest. Really hope Central can top off an amazing year given the amount of injuries we have had yet still finish top has been amazing and to finish with a premiership would be sensational. Go you doggies!!

Central 71-80... this will be a flogging.

I can't see Torrens scoring more than 7-8 goals at best.

... another great advert for the league!

Too many shithouse clubs these days... sad to say... too many seasons where 2nd and 3rd placed sides just aren't competitive come September. Beggars belief actually.

As LEH said, Greiger's fitness is a key, moreso to free Thompson to play another role.
The one problem we have there then, is who do we drop? The two in the gun would be Hall and Lane, but small players is an area we lack.
Rowntree? Too much of a risk to bring in after having pneumonia.

Comparing the sides:
Ruck - Parry/Redden slightly ahead of Sutherland/Hannath.
Hard on-ballers - pretty even
Eagles have a better defence than Centrals attack without Obst.
Centrals have a better defence than Eagles attack.

The one area Centrals has a distinct advantage is quick running players capable of kicking goals:
Callinan, Sullivan, Boyd, Jenner v Rimmington, Goldsworthy, Lane, Hall.
Boyd, Jenner and Rimmington, Goldsworthy probably cancel each other out.
Callinan and Sullivan are the huge advantage to Centrals.

Eagles are going to have to try a few different things to kick a have a chance, including playing Redden deep in attack at times and calculatedly bomb it in to him.

If Havelberg's hamstring is given the all clear, I don't think there will be.

I'm not sure if Tom Dunne will be risked with no match fitness for the last 3 weeks.

Roy Laird said on ABC TV post Prelim that the scans on Havelberg's hammy showed nothing to be concerned about but he did have to get through tranining last night and Wednesday night to be picked to play.

Personally, I think the Dogs will go in unchanged from their 2nd Semi side.
