Considering the sheer numbers of players he developed and lost to the AFL draft I would suggest that Bass is already punching well above his weight and doing a pretty damn good job of it with what he has to work with.

He has had one full year at Norwood ,bit of a stretch to say how many he has developed. They lost a few and gained some handy players , suggesting he is scraping the barrell and doing a wonderful job with no players is a bit over the top.

My guess would be around the low 4's, maybe 4,200?

still had a good day oh large one!
Crowd for us was ordinary but for other clubs would have been great!

It would be so nice if people stopped worrying about every word I say. My interest is the Norwood Football Club, not the SANFL. My opinions of the competition wouldn't alter even if Norwood had won 9 flags in the past 11 years.

Now, stop quoting something I posted a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time ago (a typical Central thing to do on this forum) and get a life. You'd think after all the crap Central supporters dish out to everyone else on this forum, they could learn to suck it up when someone says something they may not like.

Norwood beat you today .. you can suck that up as well.

Central supporters = bad losers.

Given the send off your 'cheer squad' gave the Centrals side after what was a game played in great spirits on field, I think it's safe to say

Norwood supporters = bad winners

Until the Norwood fans line the race, chanting "LOSERS" repeatedly in unison as the other team exits the arena, they will have nothing on your mob for bad sportsmanship after a win.

No, I really did enjoying catching up with the Centrals folk ;)

Actually, the game was played in good spirits on the Hill yesterday .. A bit of back and forth banter, but plenty of chats and handshakes after the game .. Think the Dogs take as much if not more out of that game than we do.

Sounds like this was a great game for SANFL football.

As a neutral, I think this was a good effort b Norwood, as I thought the loss of Campbell and Gallagher would be huge for them. Full marks to Bassett.

Obviously Centrals, with several outs as well, remain the team to beat.

Serious question: each side only kicked 7 goals, which I'm sure resulted from pressure football, but what were the tactics employed by the coaches that resulted in such a low scoring game? Was it that each side plaed an extra defender, or just good pressure foot?

This, coming from the same group of supporters who thought it was so funny that Simoin Phillips had his jaw broken last year.

This coming from someone who is quick to bring out the salary cap cheats/Centrelink bludgers/pokie bums references whenever their making comments about Centrals/Centrals supporters

Adelaide Hawk - Big Footy wrote:Port Adelaide entered the AFL leaving Central to clean up. They still have most of their administration, as well as major sponsors ... not to mention the generous donations made into their pokies courtesy of Centrelink.

In the SANFL we have a thing laughingly refered to as a salary cap. It's not like the AFL cap which is policed stringently, in the SANFL they allow clubs to do whatever they like, and Central has been blatantly cheating the the cap for many seasons. My club for some reason owned up to a salary cap breach, something that the SANFL would never have known about had they not been informed, and we were fined $50,000 and not allowed to recruit for 12 months.

Central has won 9 flags in 11 seasons. On the surface a great effort. But when the SANFL was a strong competition, Central won zilch. Never looked like it. Pay no attention to their 9 flags, they are as insignificant to SANFL history as Port Adelaide's SANFL flags are in AFL history.

As a "competition", the SANFL is a laughing stock, it's just that Central people haven't worked it out yet.

Make all the accusations you like Grandpahawk.......but prove it. Until then.......STFU!! Didn't Port win 2 more flags after The Power were formed? Didn't affect them too much! Don't bag Centrelink either, isn't that where you get/will get your pension from? Do you bag the poor old buggers that trundle around Norwood all day long, that live in that house a couple of doors down from the police station? Or is that ok, because they live in Norwood! Plenty of people in every suburb rely on Centrelink, don't be so classist. Karma is a bitch & you might be on the receiving end one day in the not too distant future. Try and enjoy your twilight years.

It was a great game of pressure football R&B. Another epic.

Jim,

Long answer:

I reckon there would be about 8-10 players currently on Central's league list that are unavailable at present. Add to that there are also about 3 or 4 regular reserves players also injured and all of a sudden any where from half a dozen to 10 U/18's lads are then up playing in the reserves, ahead of time, evidence by the fact the Central's 2's only kicked 2 goals themselves and got done by 10 goals.

This is then of course meaning that some of the Under 16's lads and other local or country kids who may not quite be ready for Under 18's SANFL footy are being played ahead of time, moreso through necessity rather than choice. The underage system at Central has been okay in providing good players to come through and play regular reserves and league football, it's just they probably haven't had great on field results lately.

I guess it is like any club with a lengthy injury list in the league side isn't it, there will a snowball effect back through the reserves and junior grades and if the quality of depth isn't there. Some clubs have depth right back through to the local metro and country comps, some don't and it is usually the clubs with this lack of deep depth (if you know what I mean !!) who will more often than not have a few blow out results, at least until some of the quality injured players come back, pushing blokes back down to reserves and 18's.

Short answer:

Yes, a few missing and a few injured ;)

Well when u have 7-9 players out of the league side. Then more injuries in the reserves im sure the U18's will be weakened.

With the constant close games between Us & Norwood at Norwood, maybe it might be time to reconsider having night games there again? I am sure by now that the feral element amongst the Norwood supporters that caused all the problems have either learnt their lesson, or moved on to UFC?

Did Hayes cop one behind play? A bit different to Simion Phillips getting his jaw busted whilst the ball was in the immediate vicinity, this has been done to death, he was not found guilty so move on....or shall We keep harping on about Macca's cowardly attack on Dew all those years ago? It's pointless. Get over it.
