And for the record, my comment is made by not taking 2009 into account. I can definitely understand why people did not go that day. The wind (and the chill factor) alone was bad enough.

The oval was 2 inches deep in freezing cold water. I just sank into it with each step. I couldn't see the mud, but could feel it seeping into my shoes and socks with the water.
By 3/4 qtr time I couldn't feel my feet. At the end of the game all I could do was sit wrapped up in 2 blankets, shivering uncontrolably; shoes and socks off as they had been water logged since the 1st qtr.
I Honestly thought I had hyperthermia.

I reckon anyone who sat in the outer all the way through to the end of the game that day, was insane.
