For the exact reason you state, that we're never going to see him. He won't disrupt our squad coming in and out of the team. The Crows will be throwing around some youngsters next season due to the fact they've lost a couple of older players so they can see who will stand up so IMO it's better that we went for an established (albeit crap) player.

Why is it any different to players coming in and out of your side every week because of form or injury?

Often the AFL players are of higher quality, so it can have a bigger effect imho, especially if a SANFL club becomes reliant on them.

Because those players actually train with the club, the afl player is new and is usually playing for his spot in the afl side so can be seen as selfish and not doing team things etc. You should understand this.

I hear what you're saying jimmy but I don't think Tambling dropping back and playing for you guys one week is going to be any more disruptive than Sheedy dropping out through injury and being replaced by someone from the Reserves.
I doubt Centrals will be dreading the disruption of Ian Callinan dropping back and playing for them. And I hope Moran, Pettigrew, Schmidt and Davenport disrupt Westies side regularly.

Your still not getting it. He is completely new to the club, those you mentioned have been around the club or were there previously. For a team like south, its good to have those types as they need the leg up, but when you are competing for a flag, you want consistency and all in mentality, not afl types who are playing for themselves. Get it now?

While he is a good player with great experience, i am not fussed about him unless he wants to be a double blue and drop the afl contract, but fat chance on that happening.

Jimmy, how about a little less of the arrogance and contempt. Your point is a general one about the value of AFL listed players in a SANFL club, to whom you ascribe a uniform selfish attitude. The original post was about picking a player who wasn't going to move in and out of the side, it wasn't about how they performed. My point is that players, sometimes several at a time, move in and out of SANFL sides weekly. An AFL listed player, even with the attitude you describe, coming in and out of the team is not going to disrupt it any more than one of your SANFL listed players. He may not, if his attitude is as bad as you describe, help your club's cause but in terms of disrupting the continuity of the team (i.e trying to field the same team week after week) I don't think there can be much difference.

While he is a good player with great experience, i am not fussed about him unless he wants to be a double blue and drop the afl contract, but fat chance on that happening.[/quote]
