I thought it was one of those "both players with their hands on the ball" thing. It appeared that all players knew it was a mark to McKenzie, but then it was taken off him.

it was actually touched off the boot , and the umpire was yelling play on play on. the central umpire paid the mark not knowing.once he knew, blew his whistle for a ball up.

Aha, clears that up.

This game was almost a carbon copy of the CO V SK game yesterday

Polec first half was huge..
I thought McGuinness gave Salter one huge toweling.
Racked up stats, while a disinterseted-looking Salter wandered around.
Norwood's rucks a worry ahead of GF

Except that it was players playing for the jumper rather than the almighty dollar. ;)

Norwood can combat our rucks better next week than last week. They improved when they threw Rowe onto the ball in the second half last week. Additionally, Stuart Bown will be a lot better for having got through this game.

All the players around the ball had stopped and I had no problem with that decision.

I understand the decision and also don't have a problem with it either, but thought it was a bit odd that he went back to take his kick and no-one seemed bothered by it.

The 'touched' call from the ump at the southern end is clearly audible on the TV, but it obviously wasn't audible to the players at and around where the ball landed, or the central ump (who I think may have called it a mark originally??). It then took a few seconds for the central ump to have it communicated to him that the mark shouldn't stand. In that time Mackenzie went back to take his kick...

Oh yeah, and commiserations to the Eags...

Great game to listen to on the radio.
Good hit out.
One wonders what would have happened if the Eagles had not copped so many injuries but, that's the way the cookie crumbles.
The win would have given Norwood further self belief.
ABC commentators very critical of umpires throughout match.

Congratulations to Norwood on a great fightback in the second half to punish the Eagles for inaccurate kicking.
Always thought it would be tough for the Eagles coming from the Elimination Final plus with the injuries last week then today but commiserations to all Eagles fans.
Well Done Norwood should be a cracking Grand Final we usually have great battles with you but hopefully the doggies take this one. Hope it's a bumper crowd maybe over 35 000?? With good weather?

I thought Norwoods defence finally found their run in the 2nd half which was non existant in the first half.

Look forward to next week as I really think Norwood play the game that the Dogs least like

Well done legs. Umpiring very poor first half. One umpire in particular very biased towards eagles bordering on cheating. Only one team wanted to play last qtr dont understand why eags would defend a 10 point lead when another goal would have sealed it. Gutsy win need to start lots better next week

If that was the coaches instructions well you deserve to lose today.
Why wouldn't you keep attacking when your 29pts up at half time?
29pts down in todays footy is getable even after a 3qtr time break.
The Eagles tried slowing the game down after half time playing short pathetic footy & gave Norwood the momentum in doing so.
Well done to Norwood, they never gave up but i can't see them getting anywhere near Centrals next week.
Eagles you were soft & embarrassing after half time & got what you deserved.

We only went into our shell when norwood started their monster flood after half time. Playing against the flood has been an issue all year that we have not been able to counter which is disappointing from the coaching staff. Look at our previous games against the 'kings of floods' ie. west and norwood. We go from a free running side to a stagnant rabble. In particular Cicca, Powell and McKenzie seem to chip it sideways in the hope of hanging onto the ball and a possible free player upfield. Guess what guys? You don't get free players up field. Accept that you must change your game plan when this happens. Start marking their free players so they don't get easy ball.

That's true actually, never thought about that at the time. Although I did notice the short passing and such of course.
Anyway, 3rd is not bad for a supposedly "rebuilding" year, hopefully this is a stepping stone for next year, and a better game plan against the flood. :)

Well we were due, Eagles got them all in the first half. You want a questionable decision, take a look at a free Salter got in front of goal for just falling over.
