If I remember correctly this time last year Centrals were thumped by Sturt at Unley and the following week North thumped Sturt by 89 points after holding them to 4-6! Sturt still finished top 3 and made the GF!

It aint so much the opposition OTR, it was the performance that is concerning.

agreed...in the last few years we have had thumpings and that was quite rare in the early to mid 00's.

the performance is concerning, not just the w-l ratio. 2000 we lost the first 3, but they played hard...these losses sound woeful!

A respected judge told me that virtually NO SANFL side would have beaten the Legs last night and that it was Norwoods best performance for a long time.

In recent years I recall convincingly beating the Eagles away at Thebarton a couple of times, and of course the Elimination final win against Port at Adelaide Oval in 2008 was another great win. But other than those games, this win was definitely one of our best for a number of years.

Have to agree that one umpire was bamboozling. Seemed to want to be a traffic cop in Bangkok given how much loved to blow his whistle and wave his arms (for 25m penalties). In the first half, Sturt got a swag of them and then in the second half, Sturt got the first followed by a string of 25s to Norwood. It really was bizarre.

TBH I think Norwood were a bit lucky in the first quarter that Sturt didn't get more of a score on the board. The second quarter Norwood restricted Sturt to a point and could have gone to the main break six goals up but for a terrible mix up of a certain goal (David and Donohue) and a poor kick on goal from Campbell which ended up going out of bounds. To then come out in the third quarter and kick the first three goals - something special was unfolding.

I didn't think Sturt were awful but they were a bit indirect and turnovers resulted. Sturt can and will rebound from that - for once I was just pleased to play a strong team (on paper) and reap the rewards of playing very well but maybe catching Sturt on a bad night out as well.

the only observation i can offer from afar after recent results is that the team arent taking "lesser" opponents seriously, a very dangerous mentality if true.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

What total, utter rubbish.

Fair play to Norwood to back up last weeks tenacious win over Port with a complete spanking of the Blues. They've never been my favourite team, but over the last 30 years I've seen more than fair share of beatings from the Legs.
That said, WTF is going on down at Sturt.

One week we're belting the Tiges and the Dogs and the next we're losing to less-rated sides, no disrespect intended, but that's the facts, Norwood were seen as a bottom-ish team this year and we've been embarrassed beyond belief.

Have to say, 2010 is steadily heading towards becoming a non-event for Sturt...

Absolute music to my ears. Go the Redlegs.

Important % booster for the Legs in its efforts to avoid the Wooden Spoon

NW 2-4...434...438...46-95%
PA 1-4....385...435...46-95%

Those stats form todays Sunday MAiL
PA/NW Have identical %
NW has accrued 49 more points, but PA has conceded 3 less points
PA have a game in hand so any immediate win would propel itself above the Legs
Im waiting ....

Impossible for those % to be correct. With the for & against you've quoted it should be closer to 49.5% for Norwood and 46% for Port

Norwood 49.77%, Port 46.95%

Great performance by Norwood in the last three quarters, but humiliated as they were, Sturt have no more to worry about than any other club at this stage of the season.

Maybe those so called lowere ranked sides are not as low as some people seem to think. Maybe it is more of an even season.

probably some truth in that but, I'd be very surprised if the teams currently in the 5 don't all play finals...

Or more to the point, maybe some of the "higher ranked" sides aren't as high as some people think.

Very disappointing result for the Sturt Football Club.

We normally play well at Coopers under lights but saying that Norwood were totally dominant after 1/4 time and Sturt lacked desire intensity and passion.
