South too good today.
Eagles second to the contest too often, hesitant in ball movement and fumbly with their skills - partly due to South's pressure.
Smashed at clearances in the square and around the ground.
One tall too many (Staple) and replace with James Stewart for some grunt around the ball.
Most Eagles' supporters I talk to were happy with Fuller's job but agree the place needed freshening up, hence Godden.
The loss won't do Godden any harm either and it will be interesting to see how he and the team respond against a fresh West this week.
Salter outstanding, Welsh still finding his feet.
We seriously need to get our hands on the ball first. If we don't, other sides will highlight our lack of leg speed with quick movement of the ball.
Luck is where opportunity meets preparation

were the commentry team sitting near the statisticians by any chance coz you could hear them in the background counting?

Any closer I would have needed some "protection".

It was a very crowded bench today, not totally sure how to fix it, we can't move too far away as we need to be near the phone line socket.

Apologies as well for the web issues, I would interested to know if ANYONE could get a web stream. Would be surprised if we we ran over quota as we had 400+ on line for Magarey Medal Night 2008 and almost 200 at the same time for 2009 Grand Final

It will be interesting if he actually posts now his beloved Eagles have lost to Fullers South?

Funny how people with very few posts pick on me very very fast when the Eagles lose.
well done south to good today.Looking at the south players and fans after they won the game you'd have thought they'd won the Grand final.

eagles not switched on today .
Unlike the twit with the microphone except in the third term when he went missing.

good call mj, bandwagoners are out in force, well done to fuller and his boys though

A great day to be a Southie today.
One of our greatest wins in recent times. Full credit to the boys, they fought the game right out even after being 2-3 behind at 3/4 time.
Ron has brought a new resolve to Noarlunga, these guys had a fair dinkum red hot crack; there might not be too many household names yet, but boy they give you a good bang for your buck.
Thats all we want.
Presentations delayed tonight while the boys did rehab at Pt Noarlunga beach; shows that their minds are already on the job for Saturday v Port.
I like some of our youngsters who have been there or abouts in the last year or so who now are giving valuable contributions , consistently. Murphy ,Crate,Rolfe,Crabb and Williams have all grown a leg under Ron's' direction.
Cant wait for next week.

Thought Godden recieved a LESSON from the former coach today.

South's attack on the ball, particularly in the centre square was outstanding - that won them the game.

Interesting that Ronnie played Warren in a very similar way to how he used Passador a few seasons back... big space in front of him to run into & mark.

Not overly disappointed with the result - South were the better team for much of the day, our blokes appeared to fade in & out, had some good periods & some bad.

Is interesting that there is so much 'gloating' or 'happiness' shown from other supporters... I would've thought that what this week end's results showed is that ANY team on their day is capable of winning any match - that's all.

I firmly believe that Welsh (if he's going to be picked in the 1s) , needs to start on the half-back line... Rocket Eade is no idiot, he used Scotty in that way last year with great success.

Welsh's confidence appears well down to me.

Salter again played really well... as did Geddes.
The next 4 games will be interesting for us... Bloods & North @ home, Bays & Dogs away.

I hope Godden took note of some things & LEARNS a lesson or two... not least of all that you can't win games by going defensive when it's tight.

Well that was an Interesting game....very similar to last week in a way...except for us giving up 9 in the last this week not kicking them!
Well done to Ron and his boys, the pressure they put on late in the first quarter to peg back the margin when kicking into the breeze and again in the 3rd to hold the Eagles scoring until about the 18 minute mark and then keep the margin to 3 goals at 3/4 time was excellent. Alot to like about the way they went about going with the breeze also..long out of the middle and straight down the guts..but alot of that was to do with the dominance in the middle. Thought Andrew Horne was great for South, Warren was good up forward too.

Bit of work still to do for the Eags...but its a marathon and not a sprint. Salts was good again, as were the usual suspects Cica, Powell and Jarrad. Scott Lewis showed some good signs again as did Miles and Angus Rowntree. Think there is probably only room for 3 talls up forward...Staple just cant seen to get in the game at the moment, even though Grocke and Welsh aren't getting alot of posessions they are both working pretty hard and whilst Welsh is being watched its freeing up Salts to kick the goals.

Now the big issue..the PA system...the volume was fine in the stand...but can't say im a fan of the boundary line commentary...remided me a bit of a ringside announcer at the circus...the your South Adelaide Panthers..Your Captain Ben Warren etc did get pretty annoying after a while. Was interesting that there is only comments after a goal...maybe he should be winding the crowd up after the opposition kicks a goal or announcing the goals for both sides.

Great crowd today too, was about 50/50 split to i think.
Trust the process.

Typical comment from a sore loser. Why cant a team and its supporters celebrate a great and unexpected win?

I'm sure Mickyj celebrated harder than that whenever Torrens or Woodville won a match.

South were mighty impressive today, was a cracking game that was well worth the drive from the Western suburbs thats for sure.

As an Eagles supporter, im disappointed we lost, but being a Ron fuller supporter, im rapt that he got a win up today in what would have been a rather emotional day for him. He has South up and running, and playing the kind of footy that will see them develop into a very handy footy side in the next 2-3 years. One major deficiency they have is tall, solid defenders. Hence the big scores they may concede this year, they just dont have the height or body down back to stop key forwards, and Salter had a day out today, and it came as no suprise to me that North kicked 26 goals with there potent attack last week. Nick Liddle is an absolute star, if you dont like the way this kid goes about his game, then you dont know footy, its that simple. Cockshell has found the discipline and hardwork he has lacked early in his career, and Mckernan came to play today and turned out a great performance up forward and pinch hitting in the ruck. Ben Warren leads from the front and my initial queries of his selection as captain have been shut down quickly, he is a top choice.

The Eagles, well they looked slow today, indecisive at times. Stuart Hill put in an absolute stinker, and at vital times too. Salter is a star and along with his fellow neglected Power listed mate Broadbent, were amongst our best players today. The longer Choco and his committee continue to pick Schultz ahead of Salter, the better it is for the Eagles. Miles was OK, he is developing into one of the most versatile players in the SANFL, but i wouldnt mind seeing him nail down a specific spot shortly at this level, and use his versatility as a bonus option, rather than it being his current strength. The Eagles will feature heavily this season in the top few, but need to sort out what they are going to do with Welsh in the coming weeks, he looks out of sorts at the moment, but i guess more game time will sort that issue out.. i hope

Hopefully today silences a few of the Ron bashers that i have noticed in these forums this season, and maybe they will start paying the due respect that he deserves. Only 2 blokes in SANFL history have played/coached 500 games at the same club, John Cahill and Ron Fuller, so I think that would earn him enough respect amongst Eagles supporters, and hopefully they used the drive home from Noarlunga tonight to have a good hard think about that, and maybe change their opinons on him within these forums

LifeFM Crew were guests of the SAFC for their Presidents Lunch today. BTW - Panther fans make sure you go to at least 1 during the season, Doug Robertson a very enjoyable M.C.

Ron Fuller came up for a quick interview (about 12.30pm) and I was quite surprised how calm he was
1) 90 minutes b4 a game
2) 90 minutes before this game

I've seen South 3 times this season (missed the North game) and the one trend I've noticed how there is no panic when things are going wrong. Two times today the Eagles looked on the verge of breaking it open and both times South just worked harder and forced their way back into the contest. It's a level of poise rarely seen by the Panthers. Will be interestingly to see if its something they can maintain as the season progresses.

Put the beer down. Gee , great goal to the woodville or is it west torrens eagles.

The crowd was 80/20. To think that you had more than 600 is laughable. In fact, I think it was 325 West Torrens, 275 Woodville.

You gave up. Never, ever think you can comment about another club.

From my perspective, Broadbent was ok in small patches like a lot of his teammates, but it seemed Banner needed a run after having last week off as the travelling emergency - he has probably come back down to Earth after a great pre-season.

If I was betting on which of our Power players (if any) is to get promoted, I'd definitely go with Salter.
