I was right behind the southern goal in that second quarter and I would like to know what was going through the mind of Lee Spurr when he tried to mark was was going to be a goal right on the line.
ARRIVE... RAISE HELL... LEAVE.

Maybe there needs to be more Sunday afternoon matches (and more Friday night matches)...

Why????

Sunday footy sux.

not going by the healthy crowd that was there

Pretty sure if it was a Saturday, no Crows playing, you would of got that many, maybe more. I know plenty of people who can't or won't go to Sunday games.

It's an interesting one ... personally it doesn't bother me when the game is but I would have thought Sunday was a more accessible time for most, especially those with their own sporting commitments on Saturday but I could be just making it up to be honest.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Well it is out of anyone at the SANFL's hands, as it all depends on when the AFL program the Crows to play.

According to the radio the bays were just as bad at that end

According to the radio? According to the radio the scores were "such and such" today...and those scores were allegedly wrong on several occasions.

That's after one commentator allegedly said something along the lines of this: "In all honesty for SANFL league football the scoreboard should be manned by a league official (I always thought they were) and bar anything else they should have a radio, because a lot of callers keep manual track and thus discover an error fairly quickly. If nothing else it's useful confirmation"

Of course callers getting the score right is another matter. So...Was there a problem with the radio commentators or the scoreboard attendants today? Maybe it was the announcers Phil? Got distracted??

Sorry Purch you lost me on this one ... at the Bay its the time clock we have issues with as a pole is in the way once it hits time on, so we have a stop watch.

Just as much as its an fair expectation for the scoreboard to be correct, it should be a fair expectation that the radio commentators read it correctly. That said the scoreboard officer has ONE job, to keep the scores correct. I have a few including calling correct names, describing what is happening in an accurate and entertaining manner, recording the scores / scorers as they happen and keeping track of scores around SANFL and AFL.

Yes we had a technical issue getting started for the day but once we did I don't think we had a problem with the scores at all. Tell me when this issue arose & I'll check it out when I do my weekly review of the call tonight. Always happy to take on feedback.

I should add one reason I write down the scores is so I have a backup to confirm when something is scored.

This is because a majority of our score reads are mere seconds just after a score has been made, ie a goal or behind. It usually happens whilst the scoreboard is in the middle of being changed, so often it is technically not correct when we are reading it, we have to make a manual adjustment.

It's especially an issue at Adelaide Oval where the scoreboard can be updated very quickly.

One thing I did notice yesterday was that the attendant changed the TOTAL first then the GOAL or BEHINDS, this is different to most who change the Goal / behind first, then the total. This is NOT a complaint, just something we had to adjust to. I though it was done without issue. I may have been wrong and look forward to listening tonight.

Another positive to come out of yesterday was the ressies, not only did they win but the players that were named best included Milne, Hardy, Musolino and Donnelly all blokes who may have to play important roles in the league at various stages.

Don't know where you were, LBT, but I thought that the Central Supporters near us were very good. Their language was a fair bit better than the Glenelg bloke standing behind me. Not that it bothers me, but if we are going to point fingers, we aren't all sunshine and lollipops either.

Anyway, I thought it was a good game of footy, disappointing patch late in the first quarter. But as long as Glenelg continue to not have a shot at goals but try and pass off to somebody else when they are 40m out, then we will struggle.

And as much as I personally don't like the bloke (which stems back a few years now, so I should get over it), Dutschke was good yesterday with a couple of good grabs and line-breaking running.

Plus, it's always good to catch up with some of the outstanding people who are Match Day Volunteers for the Dogs, they have a great crew working out there.

Which raises a point, why dont Dog fans come and stand on Snout Hill? Do we have BO? Would be a much better atmosphere if they did rather than be 98% Bays fans.

Dunno if this realy needs an eye roller just yet - 13.10 is hardly wasteful, and IIRC the bays have kicked more goals than points in all four games so far. Massive improvement on the last two years in that department at least.
