Timmies Chin and other Port defenders, well done on sticking up for your club, but I think it's well to remember a few things.

The original merger proposal was effectively the death of the Magpies by their own hands: Teal guernsey, Port Power name, etc, none of which had anything to do with the SANFL or other clubs.

The Magpies (and Power's) financial position is disastrous. The merger proposal was never going to fix the problem or be any more than a bandaid solution. The League Directors' decision was the only one any sensible person could take. even with Mr Pickard putting in his deal, many Port supporters are still saying it's not enough, so how can you abuse the SANFL for not accepting the financially piddly merger deal?

The Magpies themselves acknowledge their finances are so bad they can't continue and I can assure you the Power's financial position is a contuinuing drain on the SANFL. It's the SANFL who are having to prop up Port, but Port people abuse them

Great work to stick up for your club, but all bar Port supporters would see the SANFL decision as the only one possible.

I don't know what everyone on here reckons, but for me this whole SANFL/Port Magpies/Port Power thing of the last few days has the feeling of that there is "some fact of considerable importance that is not disclosed"...

Is it just me or is it becoming painfully obvious to all that Port Powers primary motivation in all this is not to ensure the survival of the Magpies or to bring the clubs closer together but to get their grubby hands on the POW hotel??

More power to them (pun most certainly intended) to ensure their survival but at the expense of the Magpies??

Agree am bays. It's slowly unfolding and becoming clear that the motivation in all this is to set Port Power up first and foremost. From everyone's point of view, except the Magpies.

Would the Magpies be any better off if the Power (with Pickard's help) bought the POW than they would be if a group of businessman with no connection with the club bought it? The Magpies would still get $x to get them through this season.

The only thing that will save the Magpies is the true Magpies supporters and administrators that have an SANFL and local community focus.

Hopefully that is sinking in for the Magpies faithful and they actually do something about it. I've sensed the winds of change in the air (could be the dog farting, it's hard to tell the difference between that and Alberton ) in the last 48 hours and can see a Sturt/North type supporter-led revival coming on.

From what I heard today on radio, Pickard's relationship is with the Power and that is his priority so whatever he contributes will be to get the Power profitable first, and in the process hope the PAM get through second. I guess it's his perogative where and how he hands over his money, rightly or wrongly. I'm not sure PAP are in a position to say "no thanks Gordon, not unless you guarantee the PAM survive".

Hopefully, this deal comes through in some form. Personally, I'd like to see more focus on the PAM but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

There's good momentum from the supporters already by the sounds so this shouldn't slow that down and they were speculating on radio that some other options could open up for the PAM if this falls through.

Personnally i think the Power are hoping the magpies don't find a white knight so they can get all supporters on side.
A Victorion consortiam is believed to be interested in the Prince Of Wales Hotel & apparently the magpies are prepared to sell it to the highest bidder, something the Power ain't happy about. ( stupid if they sell it for a short term fix )

Meh. I don't live in Port Adelaide or feel any connection to Port Adelaide as a place other than the fact that my favourite football team is based there. I support the PAFC and nothing more, and TBH I don't really care if the PAMFC goes down.

This is all very noble with PAFC members buying Magpie memberships to save them but how many of those magpie members have in turn bought Power memberships to help us in the last few days?

It's no more than a tinpot farm league for guys who are too good for that level but not good enough for AFL

On a given day, if our sizeable stable at Woodville is playing I'd have far more interest in WWT than watching a club that almost choked the life out of Matthew Lobbe's stellar potential.

I support the PAFC and the continuing existence of the PAMFC is detrimental to the PAFC.

The PAMFC means nothing to me in football or history sense. Only as a source of anger for taking much need sponsors and supporters away from the PAFC.
