WTF?

I don't remember the SANFL doing anything for Sturt? When we were going down the toilet, I distinctly remember the SANFL looking the other way while they put the lid down and flushed...

I pose this question do you G. Would you want to lose one of your home grown North boys to that mob at Alberton because he was a Power listed player. I damn well know I wouldn't want a Salter, Stewart, Broadbent playing for Port against my Eagles.

I'm joining this conversation late... so at the risk of repeating what someone else said... mate, those players aren't yours, you're borrowing them from their rightful owner.

Well they did advance the dividend payment to us. Kept us alive while the business plan to make us profitable again kicked in.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Had to laugh at this post on BF:

Greed will dictate the other 8 clubs will vote it down.

Yes all the other clubs and the SANFL are greedy. Port's bid for the AFL in 1990 was completely altruistic for the betterment of SA footy of course.

It's 1 thing being proud of heritage but it's a totally different thing to market yourself wholely and solely in this manner. This is why Port Adelaide will continue to be a failure.

That's the difficulty mate... some people think like yourself... others like me, prefer Port Adelaide to market themselves as the Magpies of old and keep that tradition. By making themselves a Crows Mk.II, they lose any support I'd give them, they just become another made up corporate logo with no history or tradition, that's exactly why I wanted them in the AFL, but keeping as much of their Magpies-brand as possible.

Fos would have turned in his grave hearing those words come from his own sons mouth :(

Take away those prison bars and the Port I've supported for 30 years is gone in my eyes, they'll just become the Power reserves - and I can't stand the Power - they're just not Port. :(

I'll have to become a North Supporter

To be a bastard... I'll have to say... we're expected to feel sorry for them just like we were expected to feel sorry for the last half-arsed side we saved... <clears throat> <points at your team> Why did we bother saving Torrens? They were a rubbish side with rubbish finances, yet everyone ran about promoting the takeover of Woodville.

Port has as much right to be saved as Torrens.

Indeed they didn't.
I still remember the comments directed at sturt at a few games back then by magpies supporters in the mid 90's.
They couldn't of cared less about us.
Port don't know how to do it tough, that's the problem.
Deal with it or **** off as far as I'm concerned.

But to be fair... we had Port Magpies fans buy memberships... Ebert came down for fundraisers...

As I recall, that was well after the Crows were spat out onto the football landscape and second licence was being dangled anyway.

Found this gem on Full Points Footy:

"The way Port went about undermining the fabric of SA football must be totally condemned and never forgiven" - Nerio Ferraro
It's all the SANFL's fault.

There were a few of us voting no. One comment I'll never forget at that meeting; some old guy stood up and asked if all we're going to end up as would be a strip of light blue on a Norwood guernsey.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

That's my point, they didn't do anything for North or Torrens either.

My memory of the Norwood meeting was that any light blue wasn't to be allowed on the red and blue jumper. ;)

It feels like payback time for everyone:

- PAFC originally wanted out of the SANFL altogether anyway
- the other SANFL clubs can now vote to kill off their nemesis as revenge for 1990
- meanwhile, the AFL force the SANFL to partly give up their trump card in AAMI Stadium

It's like all the chickens are now coming home to roost (no pun intended) after what happened in 1990.

20 years who would have thought the other SANFL clubs would have Port Adelaide Magpies future in their hands

Hi Barto, are you "Docker Clint" on bigfooty?

There's a couple of Sturt/Freo supporters on there

BF has it's purpose for me (Crows and SuperCoach boards) but it can be a hive of teenage trolls in my experience. You could be quoting a 13 year old!

I've read the same thread you are quoting here .... it's a real worry some of the opinions in it.
