As a board member who is in regular contact with the members and in mor general communication with many via websites, I would personally offer the invitation to all members to get to the AGM on Thursday and ask your questions directly to the board & the CEO.

I look forward to seeing a large turn out of members at the club on Thursday.

I honestly and sincerely believe we are looking much better in 2009 than at the same time in 2008 and am confident of a much improved performance. Hopefully my faith will be rewarded!

And for those wishing to know about about bike riders:
They made it, congratulations must go to Luke Powell, James Rimington, Mark Passador and fitness guru Mark Harris who all completed the grueling 155km bike ride from Burnside Village to Angaston.

Unfortunately the guys were no match for Lance Armstrong and the rest of the TDU professionals who were able to complete the journey in three and a half hours compared to the players who took six hours.

While the guys were very excited to have completed the ride they will be in no hurry to jump back on the bike. Mark Passador said “that was one of the toughest things I have done, riding up Menglers Hill after already riding 110km was not an easy task.”

The guys are just lucky games of football do not go for six hours.

see you Thursday

would love to be there CD i have a 10 or 12 day thanks to stocktake time.will catch up feb28th at Alberton

As an opposition supporter. I thought alot of the Eagles success this year depended on how much Biglands could contribute. He could have been the perfect back up for Dabrowski with the occasional run up forward.

They certainly still could make the finals. But I think will struggle to make the top 3.

Hi guys,
wondering whether anyone took the opportunity to go to the agm last night. Unfortunately I missed due to prior committments. Just wondering whether there were interesting issues arising from that eg more recruits etc.

EHL...I wont comment on the financials suffice to say the club has identified how the situation will be addressed. As for the playing group, Ron spoke for some time and his main points were...
16 players have left the club with only 3 of them leaving a gap (Chris Hall, Adam Klun & another). He agreed our recruiting in recent years has not been adequate and that some of our key recruits have been poor choices (which we all know). Our recruiting for this season appears to be complete and the focus is on our juniors, most of whom are the best prepared they have ever been. The aim is for a fast start to the season which we have been poor at recently and the number of players in the medical rooms is way lower than previous years. I think Holden 78 raised the issue of our ruck department with Ron, whilst I believe we are too thin here Ron is confident that we have sufficent personell for the season so we are going with Dabrowski, Redden and Cullen (a few others can pinch hit here as well)
Of importance was the fact that Les Stevens will be retiring in his roles this year and that Kurt Slaven will be his successor...Kurt has pretty big shoes to fill.
Life membership was awarded to Vera Applebee, Jim Owens and Justin Cicolella so well done to them.

I will post next week with some more news after the players weekend experience.

Kurt Slaven is the new Chairman of WWTFC while Les Stevens will be the President of the club. Les remains a board member with Kurt now chairing the board.

Was an excellent turn out of members and of players at the AGM - more news next week.

An article on the Eagles website has Ron Fuller picking his team from the 23 Eagles currently on AFL lists (should be 24, they forgot Skipworth). Not a bad team...

pav would kick 150 in sanfl at least.

but a touch worried ron is playing fantasy footy and picking a side like this and not working on this years side.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.
