Compensation presumably relates to Batsanis (possibly?) being contracted for another year?

His problems were factual hence his 3rd strike suspension from the AFL.

I think he will be a GUN player in the Sanfl especially if hes anywhere near 100% physically and mentally

Must have signed for not a lot of $$$ and or got his payment cash up front because based on both rumours and fact - the WAFC cannot pay their creditors at present and all deliveries to Richmond require COD.

Not surprised really after they had to trim a shi$t load to get Collins to re-sign and even then is getting much bigger $$$ than deserved and in comparison to some other coaches - albeit to be fair he is the only "fulltime" coach which is a joke considering no SANFL club has a fulltime player let alone players to coach fulltime.

Let's hope the ATO doesn't have a bigger "dig" next year at Richmond!

If I was a WAFC member I would be asking some serious questions of the club and the poor financial management it suffers from but maybe it would help if West had 1 or 2 (at minimum) Board Members under the retirement age to give some modrern day perspective!

Godden, Collo, Bassett, Fuller and Massive! All full-time and Francou I'm not sure.
So part-time isn't the norm anymore. These guys have their DNA over most of the football issues all year round at their clubs.
So come on OTR

Full time means what? No coach in the SANFL despite what they earn $$$ actually works "full time" except if you believe what comes out of Richmond!

OTR - Westies changed their board structure reucing its number and one requirement is to match a board position with a particular skills set.
Kym Russell as CEO has accountancy skills; He took over after a previous CEO left te club in a huge mess AND a playing list at league level that may have struggled in A1 Amatuer league to finish top 2.

It is true that we are financially challenged but who isnt in todays climate. Significant cuts have been made at the club in many areas and not just the footy dept. Careful and prudent decisions need to be made going forward. I expect 2013 to see a huge turn around in the clubs finances even though 2012 was difficult.

The ATO shouldnt be linked to just WAFC either OTR. 2 other clubs have had issues but it does not do any good naming them. We need ALL sanfl clubs to prosper on and off field.

I agree MB but the WAFC is the only club I am aware of in the SANFL that have to pay COB for "daily basics" at their club and have clocked up a line of very upset creditors including people I know who are 12 months plus waiting for payments yet paid their coach a ridiuclous salary which is not in keeping with the environment all clubs operate or should operate in.

I guess I can't respond as a fully informed ranking memer of the club on issue raised above OTR as I'm not a board member or privy to the exact state of financials. I do hope that a settlement on another matter may aleviate some of these and hopefully more issues you are eluding to. Some present conditions the club is dealing with were handed down by a previous administration and locked in some of these problems - Hopefully the club can ride these out over the coming year when the length of such contractual agreements expire. Onfield success is imperative though - Without it, less supporters on game day, less leverage for sponsorship and the cycle continues.
