He moved back to Melbourne pretty much straight away after it was confirmed he wasn't staying on Port's rookie list. Trained with the Melbourne, i think Dean Bailey was considering picking him up in the pre season draft, but he didn't get selected.

So it was only a little thing I missed

Over the last few years, West have debuted more local young players than any other club.

They're the only club to have been able to name a full team of AFL draftees.

Their performances have been unacceptable.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Red

I would not defend the influx of players who just wanna come over to SA and play in the greatest comp and most of these have come on their own accord and made their own way to the club.

The love of the jumper is back

Well said RAB .. No club could justifiably sit back and allow the mediocrity of recent seasons to continue ... Westies probably had a few years worth to make up for so they've been very active in the market this year and have appointed themselves a coach that many believe, is top notch.

Full marks to the crew at Richmond I reckon!!

Yes, long list isn't it? So the player in question is just following a well established career path? Like Centrals to North?

I added 4 more Ins for North on the Official Ins and Outs sticky, from nafc.com.au:

• Today we signed a young key forward by the name of Daniel Stewart. Daniel (199cms and 90kg) who played for Labrador in QFL last year. Daniel played TAC Cup for Eastern Ranges then went to Queensland in 07, where he was named Runner Up in the QFL Rising Star Award. He also represented Queensland in their Open State Game against Tasmania in 07. He is a leading forward that Andrew will give every opportunity to establish himself, we believe with Alleway they will make a great pairing up forward.
• The Campbell’s keep coming with Matt and Joel’s younger brother Paul joining the Club. Paul is “dead ringer” for Matty, so much so that you have to look twice to make sure it is not Matt. He has the pace and the evasiveness that the Campbells are known for, and we look forward to seeing him develop.
• Sam Baulderstone (196cms, 96kgs) joins us from Whyalla, where the 17 year old played against men for Central Whyalla’s League side in 2007. He also represented their Association in the League side in 07.
• Michael Burford arrives back at the Club in February after a four year absence, where in that time he played in the WAFL and for his home country side. Work has been “Burfs” main issue with not resuming his SANFL career with NAFC, but he and the Club is confident that that can be overcome. Darryl Wintle always tells me that Burf is one of the best Tap Ruckman he has seen, which is a fair statement by one of the SANFL’s best players.

Agreed mate, as far as value for money goes and filling a spot where a club may lack depth I agree with you 100%.

I spoke to a player a couple of weeks ago who was showing Stewart around for a couple of days, Centrals had him for 2 days prior to North, and at the time it was thought that Centrals were his favoured club. Should be a very good pick up.
