With the crowds reportedly set to attend you'll be lucky to get in.

I didn't anticipate the levels of stupidity that the SANFL league directors posses though. It was reasonable to expect the clubs to hold sway for 12 months, wasn't it?

Have to ask your club why they voted yes then.

Horse has already bolted now.
Before it did however, many of us figured that clubs strapped for cash with heavy debts, being simultaneously threatened and lured by an AFL Goliath whilst overseen by a SANFL organization that clearly wanted the reserves to join...well I guess many of us figured there was a high potential that these circumstances would push all other reasoning to one side.
Anyway, according to your Port mates we were all NIMBY's for opposing it in the first place. Would it be alright to place those knobs alongside the "idiot directors" you identified?

This for me demonstrates so much of what is wrong with the AFL reserves coming into the league competition next year:
(Thank you to Scott for his excellent stats pages!)

S. Siggins – 0 league games in 2013 - guaranteed to play every league game in 2014
R. Atkins – 7 league games in 2013 - guaranteed to play every league game in 2014
S. Shaw – 6 league games in 2013 - guaranteed to play every league game in 2014
N. Joyce – 6 league games in 2013 - guaranteed to play every league game in 2014
J. Osborn – 2 league games in 2013 - guaranteed to play every league game in 2014
T. Klaosen - 0 league games in 2013 - guaranteed to play every league game in 2014
D. Orval - 0 league games in 2013 - guaranteed to play every league game in 2014
M. Shaw – 7 league games in 2013 - guaranteed to play every league game in 2014

got any stats on how long these players were injured and couldn't play this year? I am sure Shaw and Akins were both injured for a while this year.

Don't all team (AFL, SANFL, VFL, WAFL) have players with limited league experience one year play the majority of the next year its called development.

I wouldn't think any players at SANFL clubs are 100% guarenteed an SANFL league game provided they can stand on two feet.

Next year the crows will have a team full of players who are unconditionally guarenteed an SANFL league game despite form, ability, coming back from injury, weather conditions, team structure

My point is that it's a farce that 'development' teams are going to play in the SANFL league competition. Most of these players belong at reserves level.

Sam Shaw played 2 reserves games for Glenelg when returning from long term injury, then back into league. When fit he played for Adelaide, then back to League for Glenelg when not selected in Crows.
Not the best to use as an example for this exercise.

I do agree with your sentiment though.

Need to compare with how many games of footy they played for the year. Clearly some of these players are no where near the standard of SANFL League football yet as per their employer's wishes they must now play out of their depth an possibly stunt their development.

Careful what you wish for Mr Trigg......

In the WAFL today minor Premiers Claremont were thrashed by the West Coast Eagles reserves and bundled out of the finals. The Eagles Reserves will now play in the Grand Final next week

East Perth looked like a different side today, Claremont just couldn't match them physically.

I think it's a sign of things to come in the WAFL but the SANFL may be a different case with the reserves sides being filled with top up players.

But isn't there only a handful of Eagles in that team? Its not a full AFL side until next year?

So why were they physically superior? Can we be sure it wasn't just a shocker from Claremont?

Just curious on your thoughts...

How Peel performs next year will be a good barometer of what improvement (if any) the AFL players have on a team...

I know hundreds of people that are waking away from this sport all together because of the decision to have crows and power reserves in the SANFL. I sure I know I won't be attending another SANFL game because of it.
