goraw wrote:can you provide some background on him phil?

Yeah, sure mate. He is a local lad, from one of my former clubs, Eastern Park and I think he is about 22 or 23.

Nick has played the last 2 or 3 seasons in the reserves level for the Dogs and played some underage for them as well. He is a versatile player, would probably be about 6'2 and about 90kg so a good 2nd or 3rd KPP size. I know his parents well and can say he comes from good stock and is a good character as well.

Played his first couple of years at reserves level for Central at full back and was a reliable, hard at it defender. The last season and a half he was moved into attack (and even played a litttle bit on the ball throughout this season) and proved to be a strong marking, goal kicking forward.

Kicked regular 3's and 4's when playing in attack and he has a bit of attitude about him, isn't afraid to stick up for himself and his team-mates and has an improved fitness level this year, hence playing a bit on the ball as well.

Many Dogs fans thought, especially with all the injuries the league side had this year, he would have made his league debut in 2011 but didn't quite make it. He wore gurnsey number 32 when playing in the 2's.

He was being offered plenty of coin to go out to local and country clubs but wants to prove he is capable of playing League football and felt that opportunity wasn't going to come at Central. He felt more opportunities at the Roosters were too tempting for him to pass up and no doubt it would have been a tough decision to leave Central (his younger brother plays underage and reserves as well).

I wish him all the best at Prospect and look forward to hopefully seeing him get his opportunity at the next level. Continues on the strong link of Central players transferring to North as well !!!

Here is a picture of Nick doing his 3km time trail at North training the other night.

seems like the type of player north are craving for. his not exactly a gorilla but if as u say has some attitude and throw his weight around in our backline, could be thrown up forward too by the sounds of it.could be a nice pickup indeed.

thanks phil!

Justin Bollenhagen and Tom McNamara both ins for South and currently training with the club. Both have returned to South from Fremantle and Melbourne.

Given how thin we got at various times throughout the year I dare say the fact he didn't get a league game at all suggests he was a fair way off league in our thinking. At his age, not sure how much more improvement there is. Good luck to the lad, but I'd say he'll find the same things holding back at Central will hold him back at North.

Well, considering I know the family and have called stats for Central's ressies the past 2 or 3 seasons, it is fair to say my knowledge of Dogs' 2's players is.... thorough.

Couldn't get the photo of him getting the milk, the court order says I can't go within 200m of him outside of footy season ;)

That photo of him above was from the North site, I didn't take it.

You talking about Nick White SDK?

Central aren't giving him away, they just told him he wasn't going to get his opportunity at League level ahead of certain others. As far as I know, the Dogs wanted him to stay but he didn't want to be a 100 game reserves player, so he felt the only way to advance his career to League football was to shift clubs.

Would like the Eagles to at least talk to Ruwoldt with a view to playing in the same vein of Rimmington and Cheep.

Not sure if Ruwoldt would make the Eagles League side if he couldn't cement his spot in the Bays side?

If Mark Ruwoldt could be kept away away from the forward 50m arc then he'd be a valuable addition to any SANFL team. I cringed as much as the next Bays fan when I saw Ruey storming into an open goal, but I for one will be saddened when (if?) he leaves the club.

Wouldn't get a look in to our midfield I wouldn't have thought, but to play a role inside 50, pressuring, couple of goals, general nuisance value (we'll teach him how to kick).
