Two non Victorian afl teams won today, with no"real" established reserves teams. Maybe it's not worth destroying our competition for!

Yeah, couldn't help but think the same. All through this debate Geelong and Collingwood have been put up on a pedestal for having the ideal set up/structure. Worked wonders today.

That famed Geelong Reserves set up has worked well against that Reserves less Freo side over the past two years, hasn't it...

Johnston was full of praise for Francou, crediting him as having the "biggest influence on my career".

"He knows what works and he's known how to get the best out of me," he said.

"My improvement as a player has increased more in the last two years under him than it did during my three years at Sydney.

"I want to play good footy for him."

Obvoisuly the Players were not consulted with the Reserves decision.....

Lewis Johnston speaking about his coach at North Adelaide Josh Francou....

Perhaps that says more about the current setup at the Corporation.

And it's easy to pick a couple of examples in isolation but Geelong is certainly one I wouldn't mention, given the benefits they have spruiked about their Reservers side over a number of years, and the success thereof.

I hope all club directors are paying attention.

No stand alone sides left in VFL finals. Either feeder clubs or Stand alone AFL reserves team "Geelong"

East "West Coast Eagles" Perth smashed Swan Districts in the 1st semi final in perth.
Have been coming on strong in lasts 2 months serious threat to Claremont's attempt for 3 successive flags and West Perth's 1st since 2003.

Next year the WAFL will be nothing more than an AFL feeder league and they didn't vote for it.

And we all know the VFL is stuffed.

Thank you very much you Gutless Spineless Directors. You will all be voted out at your clubs AGMS within the next year
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Good luck Mark.
Hopefully you get in and then can tell us at least one positive of the afl reserves. Better still, review and rescind it.
I hope others at the sell out clubs can follow your lead and try to get our league back on track.

The Concessions for the AFL reserves teams are getting too big!!!!

No Age Restriction on Top UP Players is a concern! What happened to 22 and under?

If AFL reserves teams win SANFL league comp than the Comp will be a joke.

In an even competition you would aim for each to win a flag every 10 years (1/10 chance) wouldn't you ?

LOL. He's a Panfers man, he just shot a load thinking about being a 1/10 chance of winning a flag every 10 years.

Not the AFL reserves sides.
Surely the aim of the SANFL should be that neither of them can ever win a premiership.
Hopefully it is reviewed every year to prevent them from being competitive

LOL, so you don't want the AFL sides to be competitive, while others on here spout on about the AFL sides not taking things seriously, yet ALL of you cr@p on incessantly about maintaining "integrity".

That OK, you just concentrate on doing things your way(s), while Port Adelaide will concentrate on things the right way. (Insert cheap, 1990, backstabbing cliche's here)

Yes but under the new model, every side having a 1/10 chance its more even than eight sides having an 1/8 chance and 2 having a 0/8 chance surely ?

Many of the arguments months ago were about preserving integrity etc, not wanting the AFL sides to be too strong or weak - remember the whole scenario of a side coming up against a half rat-powered crows reserves to earn a spot in the finals.

Or is the interpretation of un-compromised by some, that the Crows/Port reserves are perennial middle of the table sides.

There reportedly is rumblings amongst the stand alone and aligned VFL clubs to perhaps break away from the comp and form a new comp. Most are sick of the corrupt AFL ran clubs and eventually all Victorian clubs will aim to have non aligned reserves sides. Be interesting to see if anything eventuates from it but perhaps we could see a 10 team VFL made up of AFL reserves sides and then a 8-10 comp made up of ex VFA sides
