IMHO, it would only work (forgetting other parts of the problem) here in Adelaide if it's played at suburban grounds such as Elizabeth, Richmond, Norwood, Thebarton or Adelaide as I don't think you'll get more than 15,000 to a match here. Correct me if i'm wrong, but i've heard that one Centrals match will be a curtain raiser to the Crowbots Vs the Poofs...who (asking every SANFL fan here not just Dogs) would want to line up for a ticket to a curtain raiser match (could possibly be a sell out) and go to the match and stay for the AFL game??? F**k that! I'd walk out before that match and hand my pass out to some lucky person lining up for a ticket...

Was it just Sturt members or all club members who this year as part of their package got 2-3 AFL games as well? I didn't use them cos I'm not interested in AFL but it allowed you some choice about the games you wanted to go through. If the SANFL again did something like this then the idea of my team playing a curtain raiser is a teensy bit more appealing.

PhilH wrote:Looking at the schedule close it is a strange one.

Game 1 - Morningside v NT Thunder
- interesting launch, they already play each other twice per year in the AFL Q comp.

Game 2 - Swan Dist v Northern Bullants
- 2 grandfinalists from strong comps in the first round

Game 3 - North Ballarat
Game 4 - Central District
Does the mean the teams most of us would have as the #1 & #2 seeds will play in a QUARTER FINAL!!!

Game 7 - Eagles v Eagles ... should lead to some great commentary that one.
Game 8 - Norwood
Does this mean that Norwood and Eagles would meet in a 1/4 final. Hope its not interstate!

If it was me I would
- switch Northern Bullants for Williamstown
- switch East Coast Eagles for GWS

That would put my top 4 seeds as
Game 1-2 - Swan Dist (WA Prem)
Game 3-4 - Central Dist (SA Prem)
Game 5-6 - Northern Bullants (VIC Prem)
Game 7-8 - GWS / Norwood / Eagles (Best ofthe Rest)

Bit more homework PhilH, North Ballarat won last years flag to make it 3 in a row, not Northern Bullants.

1. My Primma Donna team & me, only want to win the SANFL.

Everything else is meaningless at this stage.

Give us a competition like UK football with divisions, relegation & promotion.

All clubs in Australia would have to consider it, except the 17 current AFL teams.

Who only have a situation of losing what they now have.

Comment AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou....
Smile :)

It's only Money $$$ :)

What is happening to our SANFL guys...

Probably because of how those clubs might be ridiculed if they did lose the competition with the higher Salary cap and so on.

VicSpy, can I suggest you get some fish to go with the chips on your shoulder. The SANFL clubs have basically said they'd be interested if it was financially worth their while in terms of prizemoney and match payments. As it stands at the moment, the proposal in this regard is insulting and not worth the intrusion on the domestic season. If that changes, so might the clubs' position.

My club competes exclusively against clubs trying to win games. Yours doesn't.

Your comment about Lewis shows how little you know about footy.

You have a club, and a great club in North Ballarat, won last year's flag to make it three in a row and you seriously think your comp is heading in the right direction?

The vfl is just a glorified afl reserves comp. The afl aligned teams dont give a stuff about winning they are just preparing their squad to play afl. They use it to get form and fitness into players. I went to a collingwood game last year and a certain head coach was telling the vfl coach where he wanted certain players playing and how much game time they get. Collingwood was up by 4 goals in the last qtr and this head coach was yelling from the grandstand to his afl players to come off the ground. They didnt give a shit whether they won or lost and this makes the comp great how?

Vic spy, I'm 40, the other people on this forum of a similar age have seen the SANFL raided, down trodden, manipulated, lied to, coerced and betrayed by the VFL/AFL for many many years now. We've learnt many times not to trust the VFL/AFL, so when Prince Andrew comes out proposing his next new avenue we sit back and wonder at what cost to us! There is always a cost and normally a hidden dire cost to our competition.
We've tried hard to maintain our independence as a football league and our destiny to govern ourselves for ourselves, something that obviously Victorians have lost in their two best football leagues, the new VFL and with the AFL which for all intensive purposes is still the old VFL.
Nobody has lost more from the nationally expanded VFL than the SANFL and the WAFL, luckily both states still have some sort of choice separate from the AFL. So deride us for our desire to remain independent in our governance separate to that of the AFL. We can see through the AFL branded bullshit and spin and I'd say we can smell a rat pretty easily by now.
If you cant then it's not our problem, nor are your views our problem.

Vic spy being owned. Seriously golden. As if winning a comp in the AFL training league is equal to what the Redlegs have established in their proud history.
