Wonder if there is another Benny Nason in that lot!

Weren't you blokes talking with Burnett this year

I think North were interested in him at the start of the year.

Shannon could head to North as well. He has cousins out there.

Yep - creating a reserves team the sneaky way. ;)
I hope the SANFL don't roll over and let them do it.

Matty Sharpe & Jay Shannon have been at the club many years through juniours and into seniors recently.

Very disappointing to see them let go as they put alot of hard work and time into there footy that i suspect some others aren't
judging by recent performances.

How old are they? 22 or there abouts? I would think after 4 or 5 years of reserves footy, if you cant get a regular league game its probably time to look for other opportunities elsewhere.
Both were very good reserves players.

If they were both very good reserves players why couldnt they get a go in the league side who have been very average over past years?

Because they are very good RESERVES footballers and not good enough to play league football.

I know we picked a half arsed team on the weekend just expecting to win and showed no respect to the opposition, but two people who played have since been sacked. If they were going to be given the DCM why did they play? Or was the sacking a knee-jerk reaction to what happened? Despite it just being a Foxtel Cup game, there are a lot of people who are very angry over what happened. Bamford was completely outcoached, employing the worst game plan I've seen in a long time. Just "getting numbers around the ball and hitting it forward" as he said when interviewed during the game gave us no chance to use out superior skills and speed.

Explain the game plan again, have numbers around the ball and hit it forward?

Looks like Claremont also rested 10 players for the Semi Final.

IS ANYONE TAKING THIS COMP SERIOUSLY ???

Tigers big guns on ice for Foxtel Cup semi

Dale Miller, The West Australian Sat July 14

Claremont coach Marc Webb says the Tigers still want to win the Foxtel Cup despite making a remarkable 10 changes for this afternoon's semifinal against reigning VFL premiers Port Melbourne at Patersons Stadium.

They chose to rest star trio Ian Richardson, Chad Jones and Kane Mitchell from the penultimate game of the knockout competition.

West Coast trio Ryan Neates, Jeremy McGovern and Lewis Stevenson will not play, while fellow Eagle Tom Swift has been promoted to AFL duties.

Claremont have also chosen to leave out tall options Trinity Handley and Andrew Ruck and the lively Jack Bradshaw to complete the lengthy list of omissions.

Webb wants to protect several key players who had not missed much game time during the year.

"We're just trying to make sure we look after our boys who have played State football and a couple of our forwards who have played a fair bit of football," Webb said.

"With the Foxtel Cup and State football, the reality is that we've just got to look at monitoring them and making sure we do get a break into them at this time of year."

The Tigers won through to last year's Foxtel Cup decider, only to lose to VFL powerhouse Williamstown by 21 points in the final.

Fringe players Brandon Franz, Keifer Yu, Anton Hamp and Bradley Nisbett are among the inclusions.

Injury-prone defender Docker Andrew Browne will also be eased back into the line-up.

The former Docker has been named on the interchange bench after managing just three WAFL reserves games this year due to a recurring hamstring injury.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.
