Loyal to what? His own coaching career? He's been at 4 different clubs in the last 4 years! He does have the respect of the footballing community though.

No doubt Rick doing a great job but loyalty is certainly not his strength. Last year at Eagles, year before that Norwood, year before that North. Where next year?

To be fair he left North because of a falling out over coaching philosophies with Jars, moved to another assistant role at the Eagles and now is the Senior coach. What is he supposed to do - turn down offers or not apply because he needs to be at a certain club for a certain time period?

RICK was never at Norwood. When he was an assistant at North he was duel coach with Dale Lewis for a combined North / Norwood vs the Crows pre-season game.
Jars wasnt terribly interested in the games concept so left it to one of his deputies.

Very true BPBRB. Just because a guy has worked at a few places doesn't preclude strength of loyalty. It looks as though he is giving his all down at Unley, (just going on the results, of course I am far from the action) if he is standing by his players and the club he is serving, then that is loyalty IMO. This is his first gig as head coach, as BP says, he'd be putting the brakes on a sensational career, if not to search for a platform to deliver his ideas.

With 4 different contracts? Your just upset because everyone if the footy community knows he was the reason you won the flag last year and now hes gone. He is proving that he craps over most of the other "coaches". If the eagles were smart they should have sacked fuller and appointed Rick as senior coach. But no its all in hand, the eags know what they are doing...........

FFS he hasnt even completed his FIRST season of being a senior coach, lets reserve our judgement comparing him against others until at least the end of next year and preferabley in 3-4 years time....Sack Fuller? He just wont hem a flag...seriously NFI :?

Agreed with the Sturt supporters on this one.
Hypothetically speaking if North got rid of Jarman and approached Macgowan with twice as much as what he's getting paid now by Sturt I have no doubt he's the sort of bloke who would stay at Sturt.
The guy is all class.

True, it's not even one season yet, but can you name another coach who would have taken Sturt from where they were at to where they are now ? Especially knowing Sturt didn't have a lot of coin to spend, they guy deserves all the credit he gets, even if it is early days.
If we don't win another game this season, there wouldn't be Sturt supporter around that still wouldn't be happy with how we have gone this season. Well ahead of any of our expectations.
To give the young players we have finals experience this season will be a bonus and hopefully we can continue on next season in the same vein.

Its all about the bitch theory, glenelg has been one to port, eags were one to central. Ask who ever you like and its common knowledge that Rick was the reason the eags won the GF last season. Why? Its pretty bloody obvious, when you know a clubs system and then work for the opposing club you have information on game plans, strengths and weaknesses. Do I need to go on? If you know any of the eagle players ask them what they thought of Rick. Also look at where Sturt finished last season and how they finished the season. Look at where they are now. Talk about NFI............

Sean Rehn was a superstar innovative coach in his first season.....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

its all about the "bitch" theory? #-o OK now I get it.... so I guess it was Fullers fault they got smashed in the 2nd semi last year, and McGowan was at the pub?

Im not doubting his ability as a coach, he has done a good job so far, but its still the honeymoon period, just trying to put some level headed thinking into the debate....been countless examples of coaches having a good first year, then nothing...

If you knew last year he was going to turn Sturt around one could presume you would have been prepared to back them? :-k

He almost cost you 1 gran, until you backed down. If/when the eags and centrals meet in the finals it sounds like that 1 gran you saved you'll be ready to back the eags with. Well done, is there anything else or is that it?

sigh.....Im not going to go thru all that again, but we all know who backed down...

Ive actually really enjoyed Sturt's return to form this year (esp as my Grandfather was a massive Sturt fan), but when I come on here I start feelign different, you try to have a genuine discussion/debate with some of you Sturt fans and you instantly think Im attacking your great club...

Im dealing with facts here -

->McGowan has done a good job..........so far
->The worst thing the club can do is get ahead of itself
->Giving no credit to Fuller for the premiership last year is a disgrace IMO

Id be happy to discuss and debate the above views...
