Lacklustre effort by the Dogs who weren’t helped losing a big man early, (assume Tomkinson was injured), although in fairness Port appeared to want it more for longer. Their leg speed around the stoppages foiled our stubborn insistence on throwing handballs around the stoppages and chipping it around sideways and backwards. Whoever wins the elimination final will likely be just making up the numbers.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Did as he pleased in the middle at times, had 17 clearances and just stepped around blokes all day. Not one knew he has no right foot.

Can't fault the Dogs effort, and the lads (once again) never gave in but the fact has been clear all season: we are not good enough to challenge the top teams. Subsequently, we could potentially not win again this year.

We dont have a lot of experienced players, but those we do have are struggling in the ressies (Iles,Lange,Presbury (injury issues))
Our only player over 25yo yesterday was Grace who had one solitary possession; as captain he needs to be better than that.

In further bittersweet news, Beau Thomas was forced to play out of position, up against Finlayson yesterday, but was our best and may well be attracting attention of AFL scouts.

Monaghan and Adams put in solid shifts and continue to improve at this level.

Yep, I don't think we'll win another minor round match BUT I think we'll beat Norwood in the Elim.
Mark Ross needs to weave his magic in the off season, we have been fairly lucky with injuries this season, luckily.
As I have already asked, if Port don't make the SANFL finals, is Liddy allowed to play for us?

Northerner agree with your statement re Beau Thomas
if earlier rumour re Paul heading to Alberton at seasons end turns out to be right
he may take Beau with him

Theoretically yes under the agreement

Practically, he will be told do you want to risk six figures in 2025 by earning maybe $2-3K in SANFL finals and also we want you fresh to come back ASAP to give you a full AFL pre-season.

Liddy wont play SANFL finals unless Port make it. Exhibit A, Brett Turner.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

State League Participation

Players who are selected in the MSRD that remain in their original State will not be permitted to play against their original Club unless otherwise agreed by all parties.

Any player selected in the 2025 MSRD has the right to return to their original Club to participate in finals if their service is no longer required at their AFL Club (subject to State League approval).

What's going on with Dyson Sharp?

The 5 games he played last year, he looked like a dead set number 1 draft pick. This year, with the exception of the North game, he looks like he's regressed (55% disposal efficiency and 57.8 average ranking points, compared to 57% & 82.8 last year), and has already been dropped once to the U18s.

He did really well at the national U18 level this year, but the talk continues that this is quite a weak draft year. It can't be workload as PlayHQ has him down for 12 games, plus one of two more for the AFL Academy side.

And if Port do make finals then Centrals can and should block him playing against them

He will be fine, hardly had a break last year after playing finals for the dogs and straight into the state program preseason.

His disposal is his knock, but other attributes will get him drafted high.

Also being playing some midweek school football for Xavier......played against a couple of our young lads who play for St Marks College only a couple of weeks ago.

Our young lad kept him to 5 in a half and then got the call up last week to have a crack at North Adelaides u/18's on the back of that performance.

I dunno, didn't affect guys like Rozee and Rankin in 2018, only made them better players.

There's a bit of Jack Graham about him, I reckon. Not sure he'll slide as much as Graham did, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the 20's.
