Never seen anyone check out like this bloke has and we're paying him around $650k for another season yet.
Instead of a MSD that hurts the state leagues it’s well overdue for the AFL to introduce mid season trading between players.
Essendon for example have no ruck depth and heaps of salary cap and could take someone like Soldo to fill a hole

I’ve said it a millions times before, increase the size of the lists by one or two and piss off the MSD, then it would be fair for everyone. Emerging players would still get the opportunity to be on a list and there would be more certainty for the 2nd tier leagues during the season.

The only real with that is that there’s too many AFL teams as it is so the talent pool is too thinly spread out … oh, that’s right, another team is coming onboard soon.

100% agree.

Unfortunately, I think the AFL love MSD, however. Gives a bit of media life to the middle of the season, always a gold story to come out of it. Lots of media speculation leading into it. I imagine cheaper for clubs as they don't pay a wage for half the year, plus clubs can then identify exact needs leading into the finals.

Sadly, i think it's here to stay for the foreseeable and maybe one day includes a mid-season trade period.

Exactly right, players are much worse off if they’re picked up in the MSD as the club basically has no commitment to them, it’s the AFL equivalent of slave labour.

If you want someone on your list, FFS make a commitment to them.

Interesting to hear on SEN, Surjan wanted Port Power reserves to win on the weekend against North. Must have a real strong bond with the North players, happy to see their finals chances disappearing.

There’s a line here about the unemployed hanging out at Alberton…. But I’m not going to use it.
