Thought CD capitalised on Eagle turnovers very well and just had a bit more polish and organisation to their game. Could have lost by more but credit to the Eags who fought the game out till the end. CD also had the ability to break through our tackles in the middle enabling them to get valuable centre clearances. Redden played for the Southern Eagles on the weekend and was unsurprisingly BOG. Will be back against Strut this weekend. Menzel, Knight, Thompson all doubtful. Depth being tested!

4-0 is a great start to the season BUT we haven't played Norwood, Glenelg & Sturt yet,
we have West at Richmond this weekend too, hopefully we can win this one
but we could very easily go from 4-0 to 4-4 in the blink of an eye,
getting some bad injuries now & that will really test us,
just keeping a lid on things.

At the after game presentations, they also mentioned Monaghan was at an impressive 90% disposal efficiency for his 30 or so disposals.
Kudos to Sam Jacobs and his coaching staff for coming in to the club after the game.
During the presentations Greg Edwards prasised the WWT club quite a bit, said what a great club they are and thanked them for their support at the earlier Presidents luncheon.

Central look to be moving the ball well under Thomas. And just like the old days, Central get out to a 20 point margin early and hold the opposition at arms length for the rest of the game. Good to see the Eagles hang in there without some key players. And yes, as other posters have alluded to, 3 out of the next 4 rounds both these sides meet Sturt, Glenelg and Norwood. It is shaping up to be an interesting season. Especially if Westies and North can keep in touch with the 5 and Port and the Crows stay down the bottom.

Why would Redden play there thought his priority wouldve been WWT

Redden had retired from the WWT Eagles and had committed to the Southern Eagles. When ruckman Brinker-Ritchie went down for the season and Jordan Lukac looked to be very doubtful with knee tendonitis for an unknown period, Redden was asked to play. Where possible Redden would be released to play for the Southern Eagles, this happened on the weekend. Also Redden didn't want to impinge on the development of the two younger ruckmen through the season as he would only be a fill in for a season.

Definitely NOT at this stage, Lukac has only played eleven league games.

The Centrals:WWT rivalry is a good one - goes back to Woodville 1964 and perhaps shared personnel. I think, from memory the Charlie Pyatt who played played 163 games for West Torrens was subsequently an administrator at Elizabeth - please correct if this incorrect.

Elizabeth oval is a great place to watch footy, SA Govt might get a better investment if they deploy their/our cash into a Gather Round at the Ponderosa!

The earlier stats re: CD/WWT's finals appearances since 2000 tell a story of the seismic shift that occurred in SA footy with the 'AFL takeover'. The Dogs and the Eagles adapted better to the new environment - and certainly the WFC/WWT merger was a catalyst for our success - our W/Loss % leapt at from 20% to well over 60%.

As for the game - it was entertaining, and the crowd was in it. Coach Thomas was coaching from the boundary in the last 10 minutes as the Eagles kept at it.

Those years of the 2 clubs winning flags I remember well . But I know the eagles would win the H/A games then dogs would win the flag .
Hopefully both teams will be in the finals this year .
