Can't help but think it will justify to those that decided to let the afl reserves in, that they made the right choice.
Last year only 5k turned up to week 1.
I don't think that even the biggest AFL-boosters would claim that the intrusion of 2 AFL reserves teams, neither of whom played on the weekend, had any impact on attendances. It's not only AO, but really the big positive story of the 2014 SANFL season has been Sturt (drowned out by all of the AFL controversy). Even though across the last 15-to-50 years South have had less success than Sturt, it's been longer since Sturt made the finals, plus they've had to endure 2 wooden spoons in the meantime. And there are simply more Sturt supporters to bring out of the woodwork.
Yes, the first time in ages we've had Sturt, Norwood and Port filling the top three positions was always going to boost the figures.
