Are you being serious?

Just clarifying what WHUFC said..... of all of the reasons that CDFC could be struggling a bit he selected how they are no longer paying players via club employment and how this has stretched their salary cap.

Not suggesting other clubs dont do it but it seems like a pretty thin excuse as to why theyve dropped off the pace. (and I personally believe that paying players through employment at the club is stretching the spirit of the salary cap regs).

What a load of BS. Very selective posting there.
Here is his whole post, where he mentioned some of the problems the club is facing, the marketing manager position was the final one, not the only one.

whufc wrote: Yeah I don't think it helps having the cashed up bl&g, Adelaide plains and then being the most northern club making them the closest to all the northern leagues.

Our ability to find decent jobs for players has diminished as well, it's been reported we lost a few players to other clubs because of employment.

It's also only been the least couple of seasons the club has had to advertise on open forums looki f for fans to help find jobs for players.

Also having a marketing manager who isn't a player probably makes us a recruit down as well all know how most clubs use that role

Apologies for the selective posting.... however, even in the context of some other valid reasons i still think that including a player employed as a marketing manager as a reason the club is down a bit is a pretty thin excuse.

All clubs face these issues and have done for years, it's not just a Centrals issue. Get a player to do the role of MM if they have the skill set. Solved.

have you heard of adelaide oval

Average crowds at AFL level :

2014 33,743

What about since around 2005 Booney? We'll also see over the whole year, averages at the start of the year compared to a whole year are generally higher.

If you want to get older figures, why don't you just click the link provided? You could even download the figures into a spreadsheet and pretend to do some statistical analysis on them.

Im not saying Centrals are the only side facing this issue what im saying is the I think Centrals have failed to adapt to the new era of recruiting.

Like how the world has changed I believe 5-10 years ago recruiting was about presenting the clubs facilities, premiership chances and gameday opportunities with career path being a secondary consideration. Now days imho job security and financial stability is the most crucial aspect of recruiting with the football side almost being secondary.

This is where it appears Centrals have been left behind, its been widely reported the last few years Centrals have lost players to other clubs due to employment opportunities. Why is this the case. I know it was many years ago but how did Centrals lose out on Todd Grima in the real estate industry with all its connections through out the club. Lucky we picked up Heath Lawry though lol!!

Go back to the mid noughties and Centrals had a ridiciulous amount of players that were teachers and had jobs within the northern suburbs (Thomas, Casserly, Cochrane, Slade, Healy, Steinberner, Coulter, Krieg) now I cant think of many at all. Why is that the case, have they lost a connection some where down the line???

It was also very common for a lot of Central recruits to go through Williams Refrigeration as employment, off the top of my head I cant think of too many who are working for Williams now back in the day there was the likes of Callinan, Williams, Aufderheide, Chris McLean. Williams is still a major sponsor but does he not have the jobs to offer these blokes.

The only sponsor that I can think of who still employs players as regulary as they use to is Tom Zorich through his Zorich Group chain, unfortunately though most work through that is only casual and suits the younger under age players.

It was only a couple of years ago that they had to resort to giving a premiership star a job behind the bar pulling beers.

Its only a though but imho for whatever reason Centrals lack of ability to find recruits jobs off field is damaging the clubs ability to attract the top line recruits.

As I said previous years were the average over the season. 2014 will be interesting over the year, once the rain comes and teams are knocked out the finals race.
